Last week, a retired Catholic bishop declared that it is the Jews who are responsible for the media scrutiny that The Pope is currently under.

Clearly, the church is scared. They are doing anything possible to obfuscate the brutal reality of child molesting priests getting away with sex crimes, and being protected by The Vatican, and far more damagingly, The Pope.

On one hand, it’s understandable. The job of any cult is to protect or justify the actions of its leaders. The question is, how many other groups will be thrown under the bus in The Vatican’s desperate attempt to misdirect attention from Pope Benedict.

For centuries, children molested by Catholic preists have had to suffer their sexual ordeals alone in silence. In the self-regulating, pseudo-self-policing world of the Catholic church; guilt, shame, and fear of eternal damnation have kept people’s mouths shut. The threat of hell is a powerful deterrent to true believers.

Fortunately, times have changed, and more of us are willing and able to speak up against the crimes of the church. Authors Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens are working with lawyers to prepare a case suggesting that T he Pope be arrested and put on trial when he visits Britain in September.

Though it’s a legal long shot, it’s time we hold the Catholic church, and The Pope accountable for their actions, including the aiding and abetting of sex with minors.

As far as who to blame next, perhaps it will be the aliens – both illegal and extraterrestrial.
