MH370 'Accidentally Shot Down' Pains Families

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Malaysia Airlines 370 was possibly ”accidentally” shot down and the search and rescue operation nothing more than a coverup, according to a new book that has brought more pain to grieving families.

Reported as “staggering new claims,” the book includes that the American and Thai fighter jets blew MH370 out of the sky during one of the two large training exercises that happened to be conducted the same time the plane went “missing.”

Author Nigel Cawthorne tells the missing 239 passengers’ relatives that they will never know for certain what really happened. This would explain the sealed data and the United States calssifying information about the fate of MH370, as reported here.

Family members of missing Brisbane man Rod Burrows are at pains, they say, to understand how still, after 71 days of ongoing global search efforts, no one knows what happened to the missing plane that supposedly ”vanished” March 8. They say they are also at pains to understand how a book could be released so soon afterward.

Cawthorne’s book, Flight MH370: The Mystery, claims US-Thai joint strike fighters shot down the plane “accidentally,” as part of a training drill “gone horribly wrong” and the search and rescue party was deliberately sent on a wild goose chase, in the opposite direction, as part of a coverup.

Some of the coverup has been “in plane sight”, such as the faked audio recording finally released this month, deemed bogus by a forensic expert

“Flight MH370 has been missing since March 8 – but could have transmitted a GPS fix on its location if its tracking software had received a £6 upgrade, it’s been claimed,” the Daily Mail reports.

The book reportedly ”covers all the theories” about MH370.

Irene Burrows, Rod’s mother, told the Sun Herald the book was released too soon, and despite speculation, it offers no concrete answers.

“There’s absolutely no answers,” she said. “It’s devastating for the families, it’s been 10 weeks tomorrow and there’s nothing.”

She said both she and her husband George are still trying to comprehend what happened, and a book full of conspiracies released only 71 days after its disappearance does nothing to alleviate pain of losing their son.

Cawthorne says, however, there might never be a clear answer. In his book, he writes how the Burrows, and hundreds of others in their situation will ‘almost certainly’ never know the real story behind how the ill-fated plane vanished on March 8.

“Did they die painlessly, unaware of their fate?” Crawthorne writes. “Or did they die in terror in a flaming wreck, crashing from the sky in the hands of a madman?’

Cawthorne then makes the stunning assertion: The plane was shot down “accidentally” over the South China Sea by a joint US-Thai fighter team strike, and searchers were then sent in the wrong direction, as part of a coverup. He describes a man working on an oil rig in the ocean, around the same time the plane’s transponder went off, saw a burning plane, right near the military exercise being conducted with personel from various other countries.

Those countries might have then sent searchers in the wrong direction to cover their tracks, he says.

“After all, no wreckage has been found in the South Indian Ocean, which in itself is suspicious.”

With the amount of disinformation regarding MH370, it is best to be skeptical, Cawthorne says, raising more doubt about the plane’s disappearance, claiming it could have been located had its tracking software been upgraded – something that costs just £6 ($10) per flight.

The Boeing 777-200ER had a ‘data package’ that only transmitted the most basic flight information, so authorities weren’t able to get a GPS fix on it, according to Cawthorne. For only $10, however, this package could have been improved and that would have resulted in far more detailed information about the 777′s movements being pinged, he says.

“For US$10, you could have told within half an hour’s flying time where the plane would have gone,” a source told the paper.

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak has now called for real-time tracking of planes and improvements to their communication systems to prevent a repeat of the 370 tragedy. In an opinion piece published Wednesday in the Wall Street Journal, Najib called for changes that would ‘make it harder for an aircraft to simply disappear, and easier to find any aircraft that did.’

“One of the most astonishing things about this tragedy is the revelation that an airliner the size of a Boeing 777 can vanish, almost without a trace. In an age of smartphones and mobile Internet, real-time tracking of commercial airplanes is long overdue,”  Razak said, still not holding the United States to task for not releasing data and other information it’s refused to provide, under executive order by Barack Obama – for national security reasons.

Inmarsat Plc, the Brits mobile satellite communications services, said Monday it will offer a new free service: basic tracking services for planes flying over oceans, available to most of the world’s long-haul commercial fleet.

The MH370 plane had sent a signal to an Inmarsat satellite, but not location data. Engineers conducted a novel analysis of those signals to determine the plane’s flight path, but the effort took time.

The wild goose chase continues. Australia’s Ocean Shield is carrying a robot submarine, the Bluefin 21, to survey the ocean floor for MH370′s black box, a black box that many have said covert ops have had more than enough time to plant and help the story end. Cawthorne agrees.

”Now I’m not saying that’s what happened, but if a black box is found, who is to say that it is from Flight MH370?,” the author asks. “Another black box could have been dropped in the sea 1,000 miles from Perth while the search was going on in the South China Sea. In these circumstances, with the amount of disinformation abroad, it is best to be sceptical.”

Razak urged the aviation industry to consider changing planes’ communications systems, so they can’t be disabled midair. Malaysia officials have said the plane was hijacked and someone severed the plane’s communication systems with the ground, and deliberately diverted Boeing 777 Flight 370.

The capacity of the cockpit data recorder, one of a plane’s two black boxes, should be extended from two hours as it is presently, to recording the entire flight, while its location beacons should be made to last at least 90 days, instead of 30 days now, Razak said.

“The global aviation industry must not only learn the lessons of MH370 but implement them,” Razak Najib said, reiteratingthat Flight 370 was one of world’s greatest aviation mysteries. ”Nobody saw this coming, nobody knows why it happened, and nobody knows precisely where it is.”

The Malaysia government has done its best but there were mistakes in early days of the crisis, with a disorderly public communication and a slow start to search efforts, admitted Najib. He says an independent investigation is being conducted ”so the government can learn from mistakes.”

Razak assured families of passengers that Malaysia will ‘keep searching for the plane for as long as it takes.’

Australia is leading the search, moving into a second phase in which commercial underwater operators will be contracted to scour a vast expanse of seabed with sonar equipment looking for wreckage over the next year.

Soon, another book is to be released on the mystery by aviation author Christine Negroni and published by Penguin: Deadly Departure on TWA Flight 800.  It’s about a plane crash in the Atlantic near New York in 1996 that killed 230 persons. She says on her blog that she discussed MH370 with French air accident investigator Olivier Ferrante.

”So far, it is a crash with no airplane, no bodies, no crash site, no physical evidence,” Ferrante told her. “It is a virtual crash until a piece of wreckage is found.”

Indian film maker Rupesh Paul is busy on a movie based on MH370, The Vanishing Act. It’s planned for worldwide release in September and is presently being promoted at Cannes Film Festival.

      Accidentally or accidentally on purpose?

im starting to believe that the plane was in fact shot down or hijacked, only time will tell, as the sea

      always reveals its secrets.

“The sea always reveals its secrets” but does the dirty CIA?

So what were Thai Jets doing in the middle of the Indian Ocean!
      I don,t believe a word of this.
Ask Boeing or Rolls-Royce, they know where it went.
This has Intelligence Agencies written all over it.

Thanks Opal – Thai jest were participating in the US-led training exercise – as this article and ones linked here well explain.

If it was shot down wouldn’t there be quite a large debris field?

Not shot down plane is in the middle east. The engine transponders were operational 8 hours after it went missing. Each engine has one and can’t be turned off and there were reports it flew for another 8 hours.

I too believe the aircraft is intact and on the ground somewhere….

Me too, I think it ended up on that island that sounds like a Spanish football (soccer) player.
