Report: Boris Johnson Plans to Quit Next Year Due to COVID

TRUNEWS with RICK WILES Officials at 10 Downing Street are scrambling to quash rumors that Prime Minister Boris Johnson will resign in the next six months because he’s till struggling to recover from the coronavirus, which nearly killed him earlier this year. A long parade of UK government officials have been pushed out in front of cameras to describe their leader as “fighting fit,” and to blast the claims made by the father-in-law of the premier’s top adviser as “total nonsense.” But, they’re doing it carefully, given the comments were made by a member of the British nobility. Sir Humphry Wakefield, an expert in antique furnishings and architecture, is the father-in-law of Dominic Cummings, who has served as chief adviser to Johnson since he became prime minister last summer. This is the same adviser who was previously under fire for ignoring coronavirus restrictions and traveled to his parents’ farm in Durham during the COVID national lockdown. The Times of London reports Sir Humphry, 84, told one of its reporters Johnson was like a horse that had been made to work while injured, leaving it permanently lame. But, during a visit to a shipyard in Devon later in the day, Johnson himself responded to the report, calling it “absolute nonsense”: “I am feeling, if anything, far better as I’ve lost some weight.” Meanwhile, the ongoing impact of the global economic shutdown is continuing to be felt all around the world. President Donald Trump acknowledged the negative impacts still being felt by American farmers when he announced Monday that he was adding $1 billion to the USDA’s Farmers to Families Food Box program, which aims to provide an additional market outlet for farmers while providing additional nutritional assistance to impoverished families. A press release from the White House stated: “In response to the invisible enemy, President Trump swiftly launched the Farmers to Families Food Box program to aid farmers, redirecting their products through the supply chain to help feed American families. The Trump Administration is purchasing up to $3 billion of fresh American produce, dairy, and meat products for families in need. Today, the President announced that his Administration will provide an additional $1 billion for the Farmers to Families Food Box Program. “Through this program, more than 70 million boxes have been delivered to over 10,000 food banks and non-profit organizations, and thousands of jobs have been saved or created—including more than 5,000 in the food distribution industry. Distributors are now prioritizing resources to send boxes to Opportunity Zones and areas most in need by providing relief to America’s most underserved communities.” The president made the announcement during a campaign stop in Mills River, N.C. He claimed the move was made because the program had been successful in getting food into the hands of those most needy at food banks and other non-profits that serve the poor – but analysts point out that it serves as crucial outlet for farmers who would otherwise be forced to kill their animals or plow over their crops due to lack of mobility in the supply chains. This is further evident by an announcement made by the United Nations’ World Food Program. It is seeking an additional $5 billion in emergency funding within the next six months in order to thwart a global famine of “biblical proportions.” WFP Director David Beasley told Russia’s TASS news agency: “All the data we have, including WFP’s forecast of an 80 percent increase in the number of food-insecure people – from 140 million before the pandemic to 270 million by the end of this year – points to a real catastrophe, a famine of biblical proportions. “World hunger is already sky-high and if we do not act immediately, many will die, children will suffer the consequences of malnutrition for many years to come, and the whole world will be thrown back, having lost all the gains in the fight against hunger of the last decade. It will be incredibly high; we need to act quickly and wisely, balancing immediate relief and long-term recovery.” Of course, that was all before the Midwest Derecho destroyed crops over hundreds of square miles in America’s “bread basket.” While the crop losses can be covered by surpluses of 2019, it leaves little extra to distribute to the rest of the world – even if supply chains could be fully restored. Those are just a few of the plandemic-related headlines we’re following today. Others include: • No School for You – The Florida Education Association and several other groups and individual teachers have won a temporary injunction against Gov. Ron DeSantis’ executive order mandating students return to their classrooms this fall. The judge’s order nullifies the requirement that all brick-and-mortar schools return to in-person instruction by the end of this month and placed school opening decisions in the hands of local school boards, many of which are loaded with former FEA members. Click here to see the judge’s order: https://tinyurl.com/yxdlmsk8 • COVID Police – In Europe, there have been several reports of police engaging in heavy-handed tactics against those who refused to comply with social distancing requirements, or of those who weren’t properly wearing facemasks. In Paris, anti-riot police were called on a bar that was not adhering to government social distancing requirements. Meanwhile, in Spain, police were caught on video beating women who were found to be wearing their facemasks improperly. • COVID Bot – In Taiwan, a researcher has built a robot that can perform invasive nasal swab tests to check for COVID-19. The new machine, dubbed the Nasal Swab Robot, reportedly performs the test 10 minutes faster than humans and provides the added benefit of being inorganic – making it immune to the disease. The robot’s developer tested the device on himself first. • Smell You Later – Researchers from Johns Hopkins University says they have discovered a “hook” in the cells of nose that are important for sensing odors. These hooks are what the coronavirus latches onto, becoming the gateway through which they can infect cells throughout the body. This also helps explain why many COVID-19 sufferers also experience a loss of smell associated with their infection. (Photo Credit: 10 Downing Street) www.trunews.com
