Minor Flaw in Charley Reese's Final Column in the Orlando Sentinel

This piece is a very important and interesting article.  There is only one small, but significant, flaw.  Charley Reese points out 545 culprits that cause all of our grief.  Actually, he missed counting one more significant culprit, and that is the vice president of the United States.  He is also an elected official.  He serves as the president of the Senate.  He breaks ties in the Senate.  Al Gore did that once before when he was vice president under Bill Clinton.  Al Gore cast the crucial vote, which set the United States on the road to taking food out of the mouths of millions, to use food for fuel—that is, making ethanol from corn.

Hence, it is 546, not 545 idiots that create problems with their legislation, approve passed legislation, interpret legislation, and send people to jail for violating such stupid legislation.  After creating severe problems, these folks create more legislation to solve the problems that previously passed legislation had caused.  Then, they take credit for solving a problem that they had created in the first place!  The vicious cycle goes on ad infinitum.  When you hear a politician take credit for passing a major legislation, we should chastise him/her instead.  Every piece of passed legislation costs us money, creates regulations that bogs down the system, fines people, and sends people to jail.  The fewer legislation and taxes they create make life better for all of us.
