D.C. Lawmakers Block Voter Approved Recreational Marijuana

Beaurocratic bullshiit just got deeper in D.C. The lawful vote of The People on pot is being ignored much to the chagrin of many including civil liberties organizations.
Voters overwhelmingly passed Initiative 71 [by a margin of more than 2 to 1] making recreational marijuana legal in our nation’s capital however; Congress has now stuck a pipe in it and no one gets to smoke it. In a bold move Senate Democrats and House Republicans effectively suspended cannabis legalization indefinitely as part of a government funding deal.
Regardless of where you stand in the cannabis conga-line there is a bigger issue at play here. What good is voting if votes are routinely rigged, disenfranchised or ignored? Chime in!

According the this article, there where two Republicans in the house that attached a rider to a “an omnibus appropriations bill”, essentially, Republicans just blocked the funding required to legalize it. The two Republicans responsible are “House Appropriations Chairman Harold Rogers (R-KY)” and “Rep. Andy Harris (R-MD)”.

You should do a little more research before YOU post. This was inserted into an omnibus spending bill that both blocked it’s implementation…….AND…..blocked the Feds ability to interfere when STATES vote to legalize…..What states does this include? Washington D.C.
So….just like your comment…the bill itself…is self contradictory.
Also, IF Pot is legal now within the Federal Jurisdiction DC, Then doesn’t that make it Legal in all the Union States, how can it be against Federal Law Now if it’s legal were the Federal Gov sits.???
Now that is a fine question……one that I can’t begin to answer. But it may indeed be the very reason for ‘their’ despotic actions.
Here is something else to consider. By throwing that particular action into the budget…it guarantees that many will not want that budget to pass…….almost ensuring a government shut down.
Which is What THE REPUBLICANS WANT so that they can push the AMNESTY and OBAMACARE agenda……..
