25-ft-Whale washes ashore Mangalore, India

Jul 1: A giant-sized, 25-ft-long whale was found dead and washed ashore in a partly decomposed state on Tannirubhavi beach on Thursday morning.
It attracted large crowds as sighting of whales in the region has been rare.
By afternoon, the stink was spreading all over and causing fears of pollution. It is not known if any officials were informed to determine its generic name and other details.
For hygienic reasons, the carcass was disposed of by interring it in the sand on the beach.

A dead whale measuring about 22 feet in length, was washed ashore on the coast of Tannirbavi near here today.
The body of the acquatic mammal was decayed and bore injury marks.
It was likely that a ship would have hit it some time ago, sources said.
Visitors were seen thronging the beach.
Beach authorities said the corpse would be disposed off soon.
