THIRD THOUGHT ON: Anwar al-Awlaki Killed in Yemen--Good Riddance!

A U.S. traitor has been killed.

They can run, but they cannot hide.

SECOND THOUGHT: Even though I said good riddance, I am very troubled that the POTUS can murder (not assassinate) American citizens (yes, this one was an alleged traitor) without capturing, trying, and convicting him first before executing him.  All American citizens, no matter how dispicable they may be, are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.  Anwar al-Awlaki was not a typical foreign terrorist.  He was an American citizen!

Where will the POTUS stop next?  Conceivably, he could go after American citizens who are suspected terrorists right here in the continental United States (CONUS). I can imagine him shooting cars on I-5 (full of cells of suspected terrorists) with Predator Drone missiles.

This POTUS violates the Constitution of the United States on more than one area and instance.  He could be convicted for high crimes and misdemeanors.  This event should be very troubling for most of the population of the United States.  Obama is taking us down the road to totalitarianism.

THIRD THOUGHT: Why do non-Americans, as insurgents on the battlefield, receive Miranda Rights read to them, yet an American citizen (as dispicable as Anwar al-Awlaki may have been) did not receive the same treatment but gets a missile on his head instead?  Isn’t that just another double standard of this Obama administration?  Why does Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM), who is not an American citizen, get a trial by court, yet Anwar al-Awlaki get a missile on his head instead?  KSM was the mastermind of around 3,000 innocent Americans killed on 9/11!  Why the double standard?  If George W. Bush had pulled the same stunt, the Progressives would be all over his case.  Why the double standard?

Don’t get me wrong.  I am not against the fact that we got rid of traitor Anwar al-Awlaki.  However, if this approach, killing him without a fair trial, is okay with the Progressives, I don’t want to see them go after the next POTUS (who will be a Republican) when he follows the precedent set by Obama.  The only thing that bothers me is the double standards of the Progressives/Democrats.  Be consistent in applying foreign policy!  Because of the inconsistency, that is why the Arab World hates our guts and are now planning to retaliate for the death of these two American terrorists who were treated worse than any foreign terrorist.  Why hold a trial for KSM?  Why don’t we just kill him at Gitmo?  Put a Predator missile on his sleeping quarters at Gitmo.  After all, he is not an American but a foreign terrorist.  Why the double standard?
