It’s not new. They really shrunk it down quite a bit. I remember when they started this laser, it was the size of a building. With the announcement of hypersonic missiles Russia and China had last year, the U.S. had to one up that. Nothing is faster than light and this laser would be a perfect hypersonic missile killer. That’s why we are stepping it up.

End of (cruise) missile era? I am not a us/chinese/russian/Iran army fanatic (I’m neutral an I prefer peace over war,) but this is a technological masterpiece, I can’t beleive they archieved that. Respect and congratulations from Mexico City, hope we’ll find a pacific/civilian use soon.
