Trump's Anti-Muslim Retweets

So now the world is all abuzz because President Trump re-tweeted three videos from a British anti-Muslim site. PM Teresa May has publicly rebuked Trump. Even the validity of the videos is being questioned.

In one video, a young male identified as a migrant in the Netherlands is seen beating up a Dutch kid on a crutch. The claim is that the attacker is Dutch born. Seemingly, he is the son of Muslim immigrants in the Netherlands. The other two are “refuted” because they don’t adequately represent the political instability in Syria and Egypt. One shows a Muslim smashing a Christian icon while the other shows a mob throwing a man off  the roof of a building.

Huh?

Well, I’m sorry, but from Holland to Syria to Egypt, these things are occurring daily. They are true even if the claim that the Dutch attacker was a migrant was inaccurate. Europe is having a severe problem with its Muslim immigrant population, and that includes some second generation Muslims who are born in Europe. As for the latter two images, I really don’t care about the political context that may or may not exist in Egypt that supposedly mitigates what happened.

I don’t know the nature of this organization called Britain First, from which Trump forwarded the tweets. 

As for Trump, while I’m glad we finally have a president who is aware of the Islamic threat, it was not wise for him to re-tweet the videos. There are obvious diplomatic repercussions from an American president getting involved in that, and I’m not talking about incurring the displeasure of the feckless Teresa May. We can and should fight our war on terror and take appropriate measures to protect our people (including Trump’s travel ban) without setting off the Muslim world off in another wave of riots.

Trump should let We the People watch, evaluate, and if appropriate, post videos like the ones reported.
