Funeral Home Forced to Allow Male Employees to Wear Women’s Clothes

If there were one place where social engineers might have the decency to leave propriety alone, it could be at a funeral home, whose customers are unlikely to be in the mood for coercion-based radical social experimentation. But no refuge from moonbattery is permitted even there, as confirmed by a recent ruling:

The decision by [federal judge Karen] Moore and two others on the Sixth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals punished a Christian-owned Michigan funeral home for requiring that men dress as men, and women as women, when they deal with customers who are going through the trauma of the loss of a loved one. …

[Moore] wrote the opinion against R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Homes, which operate in Detroit, Garden City and Livonia. …

Moore’s opinion referenced Anthony Stephens, the employee who complained about the funeral home’s practice, as “her.” She said his employment was terminated “on the basis of her [sic] transgender or transitioning status and her [sic] refusal to conform to sex-based stereotypes.”

Respect for propriety is all-important at a funeral home. Owner Thomas Rost has a sensible dress code that requires male employees to wear suits and ties, female employees to wear skirts and business jackets. He provides a clothing allowance.

One day Stephens declared that he is no longer willing to abide by this dress code, so he was fired. So naturally Stephens went crying to the courts, which are generally dominated by authoritarian moonbats devoted to imposing an agenda that should horrify any decent person.

Not helping Rost with the ungodly judicial tyrants was his

explanation that “the Bible teaches that a person’s sex (whether male or female) is an immutable God-given gift and that it is wrong for a person to deny his or her God-given sex” and that “the Bible teaches it is wrong for a biological male to deny his sex by dressing as a woman.”

This runs contrary to contemporary liberal dogma.

In a free country, Rost would be able to employ whomever he chose at his private business, on whatever terms were found to be mutually acceptable to himself and his employees. But in what our country has become, he will be forced to allow freaks like Stephens to drive away his business by dressing like Corporal Klinger for solemn occasions.

When the smoke clears, Rost will be ruined, Stephens will be unemployed again, and liberals will have moved the ratchet one more notch in the direction of tyranny, depravity, and insanity.
