Rot Goes to Top of Catholic Church

The rot corroding the Catholic Church goes all the way to the top. Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò has stepped forward to confirm it:

Viganò, 77, claims that Pope Francis knew about strict canonical sanctions imposed on [Washington Archbishop Theodore] McCarrick by Pope Benedict XVI but chose to repeal them.

According to Viganò’s testimony,

Viganò personally spoke with Francis about the gravity of McCarrick’s abuse soon after his election in 2013.

But he says that Francis “continued to cover him” and not only did he “not take into account the sanctions that Pope Benedict had imposed on him” but also made McCarrick “his trusted counselor” who helped him to appoint a number of bishops in the United States, including Cardinals Blase Cupich of Chicago and Joseph Tobin of Newark.

The list of high-ranking officials implicated in facilitating homosexual molestation by the clergy is long. Read Viganò’s testimony at Life Site News. It includes a brief summary of McCarrick’s crimes against decency:

[T]hey constituted the crimes of seducing, requesting depraved acts of seminarians and priests, repeatedly and simultaneously with several people, derision of a young seminarian who tried to resist the Archbishop’s seductions in the presence of two other priests, absolution of the accomplices in these depraved acts, sacrilegious celebration of the Eucharist with the same priests after committing such acts.

Years after the Vatican had been informed of McCarrick’s depraved behavior, Pope Benedict finally cracked down on him:

[T]he Cardinal was to leave the seminary where he was living, he was forbidden to celebrate [Mass] in public, to participate in public meetings, to give lectures, to travel, with the obligation of dedicating himself to a life of prayer and penance.

But Francis lifted these sanctions, allowing McCarrick to resume a position of great influence, until public awareness forced him to reimpose them.

Revelations that over 300 priests abused up to 1,000 children just in Pennsylvania indicate how thoroughly the church is saturated in corruption, mainly as a result of homosexual infiltration of the priesthood. Only a massive purge will prevent the Church from falling into decline. A good start would be the removal of Francis, who appears more interested in advancing the liberal agenda than in maintaining integrity.
