THREE Metropolitan Police officers have been brutally attacked with a knife, all receiving wounds

Three men have been arrested in the incident.

Police were called at 10.43pm last night to report of fighting at a residential address.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said: “Officers attended and were met with hostility.

“Three officers sustained knife wounds.

“It is not believed that any of the injuries are life threatening.”

One of the arrested men was taken to a north London police station, where he remains.

The second was taken to a central London hospital for treatment.

There are no further details on his injuries at this time.

Emergency services are at the scene, including two police vans and police officers can be seen guiding traffic.

The Met Police spokeswoman added: “At this stage officers remain on the scene and cordons are in place.

“Traffic is running freely in both directions on Liverpool Road.”

Officers from the Central North Command are investigating the incident.

Knife crime is on the rise and is at its highest level since 2010 in England and Wales.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan has been criticised for failing to tackle the crisis across the capital.

There were 14,769 incidents of knife crime in the 2017/18 year, an increase of 12,106 from the previous year.

The new Tory candidate for London Mayor, Shaun Bailey, said Mayor Sadiq Khan has “lost control on knife crime” and wasted money on “bloated” bureaucracy.

He called for 1,000 more police officers to fight the wave of knife crime in the capital.

Mayor Sadiq Khan blames Government cuts for the decline in front line services.

He said: It’s no coincidence that violent crime has steadily risen nationally within a few years of the 2010 election when investment was reduced.
