Too Many Polar Bears

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

We are told that it would be selfish to object to Big Government imposing a lower standard of living through extreme taxation and regulation, since this is required to save the sacred man-eating polar bears, who totter on the brink of extinction due to our capitalist ways. Meanwhile, in the real world inhabited by people who actually have to deal with polar bears…

There are too many polar bears in parts of Nunavut and climate change hasn’t yet affected any of them, says a draft management plan from the territorial government that contradicts much of conventional scientific thinking.

Nunavut is a vast, sparsely populated region of northern Canada.

The proposed plan — which is to go to public hearings in Iqaluit on Tuesday — says that growing bear numbers are increasingly jeopardizing public safety and it’s time Inuit knowledge drove management policy.

That is, Inuit (a.k.a. Eskimo) knowledge of what is actually going on up there should take priority over the leftist ideology that drives government grants and therefore “conventional scientific thinking.”

According to the document,

“Public safety concerns, combined with the effects of polar bears on other species, suggest that in many Nunavut communities, the polar bear may have exceeded the co-existence threshold.”

Likewise, the moonbats who champion them have also exceeded the coexistence threshold.

Polar bears killed two Inuit last summer.

Eskimos are annoyed that the savage beasts that kill them are worshiped as icons of moonbattery by influential fools. Writes the Kitikmeot Regional Wildlife Board:

“This is very frustrating for Inuit to watch … We do not have resources to touch bases with movie actors, singers and songwriters who often narrate and provide these messages.”

What’s worth more to liberals, polar bears or the lives of swarthy, backward indigenous peoples? Since Eskimos are less alien, the answer is polar bears.

On a tip from 1-Bodhisattva.
