Hijacking Internet-Connected Sex Toys

In case you needed a reason not to use Internet-connected sex toys (aka “teledildonic devices”), they can be hijacked by hackers:

Italian infosec researcher Giovanni Mellini demonstrated in 2017 how a Bluetooth-enabled butt plug could be easily co-opted by hackers to allow unauthorised access.

A Bluetooth-enabled butt plug is what you get when a society is technologically rich but culturally destitute.

The purpose of these devices is “to allow sex partners to control each others’ pleasure remotely.” Some people must think modern sex is not yet detached enough from any meaningful connection.

Mellini showed how an unscrupulous operator could easily get access to the device and commit a wireless sexual assault. …

The security ramifications become even more significant when you consider that some modern sex toys include webcams that can be used to enhance communication with teledildonic sex partners.

Your private parts might even find their way into a viral video without your knowledge.
