Viral Antisemitic Video Prompts GW Students to Push for Adopting Definition of Antisemitism

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

On college campuses across America the anti-Israel Left continue to make life for Jewish students uncomfortable and unsafe. The House Democrats refuse to pass any meaningful legislation to protect American Jewish students from being marginalized, bullied, harassed, and assaulted on college campuses. President Trump must take action. It is a disgrace that American Jewish students are made to feel uncomfortable and unsafe on their own college campuses. It represents one of the worst failures ever of America’s Jewish establishment.

Viral (Anti-Israel) Video Prompts GW Students to Push for Adopting Definition of Antisemitism

“We’re gonna f***ing bomb Israel, bro. F*** outta here Jewish pieces of s***.”

By Algemeiner, November 15, 2019

Student groups at George Washington University in Washington, DC, have called on the school to adopt the US State Department’s definition of antisemitism in the aftermath of a viral video displaying a student saying that Israel should be bombed.

Leaders from GW for Israel, the Jewish Student Association, GW College Republicans, GW College Democrats and the university’s student association wrote a joint letter to GW President Thomas LeBlanc to “express our grave concern about the persistent, undeterred presence of antisemitism amongst our community,” adding that Jew-hatred has occurred on campus, for example, in the “past refusal of the Student Association to hold this form of intolerance to the same level of scrutiny as other forms of hate, because the intolerance is directed towards Jews.”

The letter also mentions that antisemitism on campus has included anti-Israel rhetoric.

In April 2018, the GW Student Association passed a resolution calling on the university to divest and boycott firms doing business in Israel.

Earlier this month, a Snapchat video showed an apparently intoxicated student being asked by a male, “What are we going to do to Israel?”

She responded, “We’re gonna f***ing bomb Israel, bro. F*** outta here Jewish pieces of s***.”

The video, which has almost 30,000 views on Facebook, had a graphic that read, “Hot Girl Rosh Hashanah.”

While it deeply pains me to see a freshman student at The George Washington University making a clearly antisemitic slur, it does not surprise me. This is hate speech. This is inciting violence. This is antisemitism. Anti-Israel rhetoric is something we are more than familiar with on college campuses. It is more than acceptable to criticize and discuss issues regarding Israel just as it is to do so with any other country, but this was clearly not coming from a place of instigating dialogue. This was about violence and hate of which is unacceptable towards any person or group regardless of political, religious, or social beliefs. Antisemitism cannot be ignored. I see swastikas drawn on desks, and I walk past. I see Jews being left out of the conversation of discrimination, and I ignore that too. But this will not be ignored.I wonder how the Board of Trustees, whom of which most are Jewish will feel about this. The constant behavior of universities all over the country hiding hate crimes, sexual assaults, and other wrongdoings on campus is an abuse of power and our tuition dollars. Despite the valiant efforts of The George Washington University to brush things like this under the rug, it will not be tolerated this time or any time after this. To Jewish students, students against hatred, students of GW, and students of other institutions, please don’t let this go unnoticed, un-talked about, or unaddressed. We need to come together against hate. Please report this incident to the ADL and continue to share it on all social media platforms.

Anti-Semitism At Arizona State University Highlights Tense On-Campus Atmosphere For Jewish Students

Related: Jewish Student’s Complaint Starts US Probe of N JYU Anti-Semitism

By Daily Wire, November 15, 2019:

According to a Chabad of Arizona State University (ASU) email forwarded along to The Daily Wire earlier today, the on-campus ASU Jewish community experienced a horrific act of anti-Semitism earlier this week. Worse still, this latest flare-up seems to be part of an ongoing troubling trend.

“The current semester has brought some alarming events with it,” the email from Rabbi Shmuel Tiechtel begins. “In the past months the State Press has printed multiple articles supporting the Antisemitic BDS movement. Horrible Antisemitism flyers were distributed on campus. And then there was the incident [on Wednesday night].”

The email from Rabbi Tiechtel went on to explain the details of a terrible interruption of an event from earlier this week at ASU that honored wounded veterans of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The protesters — who, to once again emphasize, deemed it fit to protest an event honoring wounded IDF veterans — apparently spewed anti-Semitic, Jew-hating vitriol in an attempt to harass students  and possibly shut down the event in its entirety.

“Last night (Wednesday), here at Arizona State University, students wearing emblems of anti-Israel organizations, and waving signs encouraging violence against Jews, tried to shut down an event right here on campus in the Memorial Union,” the email explained. “We were hosting a special event together with Hillel, JAC, Students Supporting Israel and Stand with Us which featured Dor Moguiliansky and Aviv Yasmin Bar, two wounded IDF veterans who were going to share their stories. Before the event began, approximately 80 anti-Israel protesters sat in and blockaded the room where our event was supposed to be held and were screaming against Israel,” the email continued.

“Campus police asked us to move to another room in the [Memorial Union]. We went to the other room but those who espoused hate and anti-Israel slogans followed and tried to disrupt the event once again. ASU police had to stand guard at the door the entire event to make the Jewish students feel safe. Understandably, the protests caused many Jewish students to feel uncomfortable, many Jewish students felt intimidated and if not for the ASU police presence there, they would not have felt safe,” Rabbi Tiechtel wrote.
