Tony Oliva and Dick Allen belong in the Hall of Fame

Here we go again. My annual plea calling for Dick Allen and Tony Oliva to be inducted in the Hall of Fame.

At this point, they need to be selected by the Veterans Committee. The two are super deserving.

Allen was a 7-time All-Star who played for the Phillies and White Sox from 1963-77. He was NL Rookie of the Year om 1964 and AL MVP in 1972 (37 HR for the White plus a .420 on-base percentage, .603 slugging percentage and 1.023 OPS. He led his league in OPS four times, the highest figure being 1.027 for the Phillies in 1966.

Oliva was a .313 hitter from 1962-72 for the Twins and led the AL in hits 5 times from 1964-70. He was a 3 time AL batting champion and an eight-time All-Star, and was twice runner-up for the AL MVP Award.
