Outlook

Cold Canadian high pressure will bring below normal temperatures through the middle of the week. Temperatures gradually return to near normal late in the week. The next cold front crosses the area Friday night. Seasonal high pressure slowly builds in by Monday.

News Brief

• At 2:12pm Monday, a magnitude 3.8 earthquake occurred near Fincastle, Tennessee (94.4 miles northwest of Franklin near the Tennessee-Kentucky border). Many local residents felt it and reported it via social media. A number of similar quakes have recently occurred in the region, though none were as widely felt. [Facebook] [Article]

• At 4:41 pm Monday, Macon County EMS and Otto VFD First Responders were dispatched to stage at Addington Bridge Road and South Skeenah Road until law enforcement could arrive and secure the scene of a reported gunshot wound at 1333 South Skeenah Road. A homeowner shot at a person during a breaking and entering. MAMA-2 was put on standby, then taken off standby at 4:56pm and the response of Otto VFD was discontinued at 5:01pm by a deputy with the Sheriff’s Office. More will be added as details are released.

Weather Hazards

Other than temperatures being a bit chilly, no hazardous weather is anticipated. Be sure to take care and dress warmly. There has been at least one case of frostbite reported in Franklin overnight as someone attempted to walk along the Highlands Road to get home.
