The Language of Presidents

If we’re different colors we deserve different languages! Right Amy?

I see where Amy Klobuchar has changed her mind (aka pandering if you’re a politician) and now does NOT think English should be the national language of the United States. I wonder what she thinks SHOULD be our official language, Yiddish? Navajo? Aramaic?

How about Esperanto?  The artificially constructed language created in 1887 by Polish ophthalmologist and linguist L. L. Zamenhof. He had hoped that his language – which he saw as a tool to gather people together through neutral, fair, equitable communication – would lead to a world free of war.

Zamenhof’s goal was to create an easy and flexible language that would serve as a universal second language to foster world peace and international understanding, and to build a community of speakers, as he believed that one could not have a language without such a community.

Perhaps he was correct in that assumption but it seems logical that the opposite is likewise true: that you can’t have a community without a common language. And it likewise seems logical that when you’ve already got the basis for community that you adopt a common language to facilitate it.

Of course even a common language will not prevent war when one element of said society becomes tyrannical.

It should be noted that Zamenhof, while not a leftist himself,  apparently partially believed one of the left’s great fallacies: that human evil can be controlled through social constructs. The world never adopted his common language and tragically all three of Zamenhof’s children were killed in the Holocaust, the result of pure evil not the lack of shared language.

Or perhaps Amy would have us all learn to code? Because there’s a useful, neutral, non-judgmental language if ever there was one. And it could be used to promote world peace, right? Along with other useful stuff.

Or not…

Yeah, I’m not really seeing Amy as presidential material.

But you all have a nice President’s Day anyway.
