This evening, in a high crime part of Amsterdam, (Amsterdam Zuidoost -Southeast), a shootout took place, and a 2-year-old child was injured, possibly by a stray bullet. The below police report is translated by Fousesquawk.

Amsterdam- On Monday evening, 10 May 2021, a 2-year-old child was wounded during a shooting incident in the area around the metro station at Kraaiennnest. The young victim was taken by ambulance to the hospital and had to remain overnight for observation. Police investigators are looking for witnesses.

Around 21:15 the Operations Center received several reports of shots fired in the area of the Kraaiennest metro station. At the scene, it turned out that a young child was wounded. From various statements, it turns out that two suspects were involved in the shooting. Several police units, including dog handlers, searched the area for the suspects but didn’t locate them. Employees of the forensic team have been at the scene to investigate and have found several shell casings.  It is as yet unknown what the cause of the shooting incident was.
