Moisture riding over a stationary front to the south will produce a rainy and cool day today across the western Carolinas and northeast Georgia. Drier high pressure will build into the region from the north by Thursday, with slow warming expected through the beginning of next week. With that warming comes another chance of rain beginning Monday. Local News Update

Gas Panic of 2021 Some of you may have noticed that gaslone is in short supply at gas stations. This is due to a [Ransomware cyberattack] on Colonial Pipeline that resulted in operations being temporarily shut down. Full operations have been restored and the resulting hiccup in the supply chian should be resolved by this weekend. Panic and oversconsumption will just extend the shortage (remember when people rushed the stores last year because they were scared that the suplly of toilet pepar would run out? Governor Issues State of Emergency Allowing for Fuel Transportation Waivers After Colonial Pipeline Ransomware Cyber-Attack

In response to the temporary shutdown of the Colonial Pipeline, Governor Roy Cooper today signed an Executive Order declaring a state of emergency in North Carolina and temporarily suspending motor vehicle fuel regulations to ensure adequate fuel supply supplies throughout the state. On May 7, 2021, the Colonial Pipeline system reported a ransomware cyber-attack, resulting in a temporary shutdown of that line. The Colonial Pipeline is a primary fuel pipeline for North Carolina.

“Today’s emergency declaration will help North Carolina prepare for any potential motor vehicle fuel supply interruptions across the state and ensure motorists are able to have access to fuel,” said Governor Cooper.

The Order received concurrence from the Council of State.
