If the federal government would strangulate the economy by paying people not to work, why wouldn’t it pay farmers to destroy their crops?

Specific to American history, our most aggressively socialist president prior to Biden was FDR, who was able to prolong the Great Depression for years. His administration inflicted the insane Agricultural Adjustment Act, which was explicitly intended to create artificial scarcity so as to increase prices.
Since the media has been politicized nearly to the point of uselessness, it is hard to know what information to believe. What we know for sure is that the federal government under radicalized Democrats is hostile to the American people.
