The Mark and Number of the Beast
Technology has always played a part in the dispensational explanation of the “mark of the beast” and “buying and selling” discussed in Revelation 13. Sensational teachers rely on fear and current events to sell books and fill conferences with participants ready to hear the latest “end times” theory.
But what does the Bible actually say? Should Scripture be interpreted in terms of the 21st century, or the first century? Does the Old Testament have anything to reveal when trying to understand the signs of the book of Revelation?
In The Day and The Hour, Gumerlock spans two thousand years of conjecture on the last days, disclosing the dreams and delusions of those who believed that their sect was the 144,000 of Revelation 7; that the 1290 days of Daniel 12 had expired in their generation; that the ‘Man of Sin’ of II Thessalonians 2 was reigning in their time; that a Rapture of the saints, a Great Tribulation, a Battle of Armageddon were just around the corner; or that a Millennial Kingdom was about to dawn.
In this second part of his interview with Pastor Richard Henry, Gary continues discussing modern technology and Bible prophecy. Barcodes, microchips, cell phones, and even Monster Energy drink have all been connected to the book of Revelation and the “end times.” But the events the Bible speaks of make much more sense when interpreted through a first-century fulfillment. Interpreting the Bible with the Bible, instead of with modern technologies and fads, is always the better method.
