Deep moisture will set up atop the region through the late weekend and linger through the upcoming week. The combination of deepening low pressure over the Mississippi River Valley and a surface front settling southward through the Carolinas by mid week will keep the weather unsettled, with generally below normal maximum temperatures most days.

* WHAT…Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
* WHERE…Portions of northeast Georgia, western North Carolina and upstate South Carolina, including the following areas, in northeast Georgia, Franklin, Habersham, Hart, Rabun and Stephens. In western North Carolina, Macon and Southern Jackson. In upstate South Carolina, Greater Oconee and Oconee Mountains.
* WHEN…Through Sunday evening.
* IMPACTS…Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– Much of the watch area received 3 to 6 inches of rain yesterday, and additional heavy rain is possible through the day today. Even modest amounts of additional rainfall will likely cause flooding.

The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Tropical Storm Danielle, located almost 1000 miles west of the Azores, and on Tropical Storm Earl, located about 90 miles northeast of the Virgin Islands.
1. A tropical wave is expected to emerge from the coast of Africa later day. A low pressure area could form in association with this system early in the week, and subsequent gradual development is possible thereafter.
* Formation chance through 48 hours…low…near 0 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days…low…20 percent.
