Post American Culture: Silent Death of American Citizenship

Part 7:  What do you do when your country turns into another country, language and ethos?  Are we no longer a country of Americans?  Who are we and what are we becoming?  A multicultural hellhole stampeding into America.

Americans No More?  Multicultural Hellhole!

In 2003, I met DC journalist Georgie Ann Geyer at an immigration conference hosted by Dan Stein at www.Fairus.org .  She wrote a book: Americans No More, which published in 1996.  She brilliantly defined America’s demise, how it happened and how it’s continuing.

During this interview, Warren said, “The conventional wisdom is that only ignorant and uninformed people could object to open borders and unlimited immigration, even though many respected academics and writers continue to challenge this idea.  The problem is, the media gatekeepers do their damnedest to make sure that nobody ever hears about their work.

“Georgie Anne Geyer is one of the nation’s top foreign correspondents and a widely published author.  Drawing on her long career as an overseas reporter and a keen observer of contemporary events, she has vividly described the decline of America’s civic culture and our appreciation of who we are as a people in her book, Americans No More, first published in 1996.  Click here: Americans No More 1st, Georgia Anne Geyer – Amazon.com

“In the years since its publication, Americans No More has proved to be unerringly prescient, and citizenship, as her book notes, ‘has changed drastically and for the worse.  Our desire to acknowledge diversity [as symbolized by the recent viral image of a rainbow-colored White House] has evolved into a willingness to value it over the shared goals and vision of the American people, which in turn has led to … the Balkanization of America.’”

Her book, as the author describes it, “Is about the silent but real death of American citizenship.  If allowed to persist, this phenomenon will surely destroy America, as we have known it.  This slow but steady destruction is occurring even at the moment in history when America has won the ‘war’ for the ideological context of the world, and at a time when democracy and capitalism were celebrated as the means for humankind’s development and for the massive freeing of the human spirit.’”  (Page 7)

We can see our demise all around us, especially in the cities where ‘citizens’ stomp on the American flag.  When asked off the sidewalks, they don’t know Thomas Jefferson from John Doe.  They wouldn’t know the Bill of Rights from the Declaration of Independence.  Further, they don’t care.  Over 90 percent fail to vote in local elections and only 50 percent vote in national elections.

“Likewise,” said Warren.  “The Balkanization of America that Ms. Geyer describes — driven in large part by the wedge issues so beloved by political operatives in both major political parties — has proceeded apace, and we are now divided along so many cultural and ideological fault lines that it is becoming almost impossible to find anything that most Americans can still agree on.  As Ms. Geyer observes, even our traditional ways of thinking about group and class solidarity in America are dissolving: ‘The new American elites’ she writes, echoing Robert B. Reich, ‘are disconnected from America; other Americans from the working class and many parts of the middle class who still patriotically believe in country, flag, and patriotism are left behind and alienated; and divisions of class that America has not known are likely to appear and become problematic.’ (p. 37) Unlimited immigration, of course, only exacerbates these trends, adding millions of people with conflicting ideas and different cultural norms to the already boiling pot.  

“In this ‘twilight of common dreams’ [The phrase is borrowed from the title of Todd Gitlin's 1995 book, The Twilight of Common Dreams, which presents an important analysis of this phenomenon from the perspective of the academic left.] the legitimacy of a commonly held American culture — and the shared responsibilities of citizenship that arise organically out of that culture — are more and more being called into question.  Yet participation in citizenship, as the author describes it, ‘is the cornerstone of all of the other commitments … that people make.’  And, citing Hanna Arendt, ‘It is citizenship that confers equality, not equality that creates a right to citizenship.’”  (p. 54)  

Warren continued, “If, as Georgie Anne Geyer suggests, a widely shared American culture — and the concept of citizenship that arises out of it — are so important to preserving our way of life, then why are so many people seemingly determined to destroy these things?  In the balance of her book, the author examines the ideas and ideologies behind this well coordinated assault on American civilization and directly confronts the pro-immigration, anti-citizen agenda of the elites.  Taking on everything from political correctness to the sacred tenets of multiculturalism, Ms. Geyer skewers every sacred cow in the elites’ diversity barn and skillfully eviscerates their tendentious, self-serving apologetics.  The tragedy, again, is that works such as this are routinely buried by the media or are given short shrift by the ‘gatekeepers’ who regulate which books are reviewed and how much publicity they receive.          

“Toward the end of her book, Ms. Geyer directs her attention to California as a bellwether of what might be to come, and once again she has been remarkably prescient.’  Indeed, as she writes, ‘In California … one can find the realization of every mistake that we Americans have made in the last half of the twentieth century regarding citizenship in a modern-nation state.’ (p. 277)  As the California Dream has turned into an almost ungovernable nightmare (complete with sanctuary cities, bankrupt hospitals, and school districts that attempt to teach children — at vast expense — in hundreds of different languages), it is clear that this is not a formula for a stable and sustainable society, even as it ever more closely approximates the utopian ideals of the elites.”

“In closing, it is hard to imagine two better, more thoroughly researched books about what appears to be the ‘planned’ destruction of our American civilization than Huntington’s Who Are We and Geyer’s Americans No More, yet both works — and the ideas therein — remain essentially unknown to probably 99% of the population.  Similarly, except for a few brave souls in the electronic media who talk about the importance of borders, language, and culture, there is little if any real critique of Official Washington’s agenda to remake America as they see fit.  Nor, in all probability, will there be much serious discussion of the deleterious effects of unlimited immigration in the presidential debates.  While Donald Trump scratches the surface of the immigration problem to widespread public acclaim, even he fails to address the deeper issues involved.”    

All of us face this sobering future of a fractured, linguistically chaotic and culturally confused future from which, none of our children will survive with a semblance of a calm-peaceful society.

Part 8: How far can we survive multicultural chaos?

Definition of slogan:  “Immigration Shutdown Now means the American people want all legal immigration dropped to less than 10,000 annually with compatible immigrants that fit our ethos and want to become Americans, and only those who benefit our country and/or they marry an American and speak English. That means we want all illegal immigration stopped by arresting, prosecuting and jailing employers of illegal aliens. We deport all illegal aliens by taking their jobs away and as we catch them.  We want English mandated as our national language. We demand a cessation of Muslim immigration in order to protect our culture, language and way of life. We can’t save the world but we can destroy our civilization.  We demand a stable population that allows everyone to live, work and thrive into the 21^st century. Especially our children.” FHW

That’s why you need to take action. Send this series to everyone in your network. Educate them.  Urge them to take action by joining these websites to become faxers of prewritten letters and phone callers.  We must force Congress into an “Immigration Shutdown Now!”
