Wise County Receives $50,000 to Upgrade Online Land Records System The Wise County Industrial Development Authority will be utilizing a state economic development grant to develop a new land ownership records system and a training program for local students that will lead to paid internships. |

New Contract Poised to Bring More Solar Options to Appalachian Power Customers A new agreement between Southwest Virginia representatives and Appalachian Power makes it easier for schools and other government facilities across the utility’s territory to go solar. |

The Town of Appalachia Partners with MECC Students on Community Revitalization Fifteen students from Mountain Empire Community College have been working with Appalachia, Va., and a small business owner to refurbish the town’s next Main Street mercantile. |
