Who Would You Spend Your Final Day On Earth With?

As an exercise I thought I would discipline myself to take a photo every day of something meaningful to me for that particular day. Just a quick snap, nothing planned. My initial aim was a photo for all of February, but I’ll see how I get on. (Don’t worry, I won’t bore you with them all!)

I started on February 1st and I’ve noticed how it already makes me more aware of each day.

The photo at the top of the page is from February 1st. Our son and daughter-in-law invited us out to lunch, along with our two small grandchildren. We went to Griggs Country Farm Restaurant in St Austell, Cornwall. The photo shows my meal and it was excellent.

Being now on day five of my photo taking it’s also got me thinking about all sorts of things associated with the individual photos.

For example, one of the weekend newspaper’s magazines often poses the question: The way you would spend your fantasy 24 hours, with no travel restrictions.

I’ve also seen other similar questions such as: How would you spend your day if you knew it was your last on Earth, if there were no restrictions?

Because of the photo I took on February 1st,  these these sort of questions went through my mind.

I realised it’s not so important as to where you are, but who you are with. I’d be happy anywhere as long as I was with my family. Not much else is really so important, when you think about it. Sitting next to my 3 year old grandson, for instance, and seeing his smiling face looking at me – what could be more perfect.

I’m lucky to have been to some wonderful places such as the awesome Grand Canyon, Cannes and Monte Carlo, riding a camel in North Africa, walking in the Austrian Alps, several Greek Islands, lots of Europe and so on. But they are partly memorable because of whom I was able to share the experience with.

I’m beginning to finally come to the conclusion that in life it is people who are important, along with how we choose to see the world.
