MOTHMAN
SUMMONING THE DEMON PAZUZU

I have spoken many times about coincidence and synchronicity and how it influences my life. Well, I have a strange coincidence that I want to share with you about how this presentation came to be.

A guest we were trying to book for a show fell ill and we hoped that she would feel better in time for her appearance; in the meantime I was challenged to come up with a “Plan B” in case she was too sick to appear.

I told Ron Patton, my producer, that my back up plan was to do a show about the story of Mothman. Mothman is an anthropomorphic moth-like creature reportedly seen in the Point Pleasant area of West Virginia from November 15, 1966 to December 15, 1967.

The Mothman story has always been the most terrifying story that I have read as I can’t imagine what it would be like to stare into the red glowing eyes of a dark entity with wings.

I also have had discussions with cryptozoologists like Loren Coleman about how the Mothman is similar to the dark harbinger demon known as Pazuzu.

Well, this morning Janine called me to tell me about the bizarre case of a killer who called himself Pazuzu.

Pazuzu Algarad was found dead in his prison cell.

Pazuzu Algarad was an unrepentant devil worshipper who had strange facial tattoos and teeth that had been filed to points. Pazuzu was charged along with two others in the killings of two people.

It was reported that he ate pieces of his victims and then buried them in the backyard of a house he shared with his mother and girlfriend.

Algarad was found unresponsive early Wednesday morning at Central Prison in Raleigh, North Carolina with a wound on one of his arms.

He was taken to the prison hospital and declared dead. The North Carolina Department of Public Safety said he apparently died from suicide. That’s what’s known — or at least what’s been released to the public.

There are many people who are speculating that Pazuzu’s death was a ritualistic suicide because of the timing, while others see it as his blood offering to Satan in order to unleash a parasitic evil into the world.

His problems began as far back as 2010 when he had been interviewed by state psychiatrists as part of a mental-health evaluation after he had been charged with being an accessory in an involuntary manslaughter case. He pleaded guilty in 2012, and was sentenced to between 10 and 12 months in prison and placed on five years of probation.

The psychiatrists learned that from the age of 17, Pazuzu Algarad had practiced an unknown form of “Sumerian” religion, requiring him to perform some sort of ritual every month during what he called “the black moon” and which included the sacrifice of a small animal.

The last black Moon was September 28th, 2015 during the appearance of the blood tetrad– he killed himself a month later on the rise of the full moon.

For many years, the moon remained the prime deity of the Sumerians. With the worship of the moon, there was also the fear of the Demon of the Winds and pestilence known as Pazuzu.

Many people know about this demon, because it was the demon featured in the film, The Exorcist.

In the beginning of the film, Father Merrin finds a ruined statue of the demon during a dig in Iraq. This demon is a four-winged creature with the paws of a wildcat and a face of a dog. It is implied in the film that Father Merrin accidentally releases this demon and its influence is so great that it possesses a little girl while she is playing with an Ouija board. It is also ironic that in the movie, Exorcist III, a prisoner known as the “Gemini Killer” is also possessed by the demon, Pazuzu.

Pazuzu is an Assyrian name for the Sumerian King of the demons and was a prime example of the type of devil of which the Sumerians were particularly aware of, and was always depicted in their carvings and statues. In demonic iconography, Pazuzu’s influence was immense and omnipotent. The power of the great demon of the winds was influential and powerful. It was so powerful that there were many cults that were created to worship Pazuzu.

Although the ancient peoples of the world were conscious of an entity called the Devil or Satan, as evident in the Sumerian Creation Epic and the rumored existences of the Cult of Set of the Egyptians—Pazuzu was a demon that would spread pestilence and plague and was quite literally one form of evil to conquer another form of evil.

Pazuzu was also considered a harbinger of doom. If he is seen or if he is conjured, it unleashes an evil that will plague mankind like an uncontrollable virus.

In the book, “Mere Christianity” by C.S. Lewis, there is a quote that backs up the opinions of Archbishop Tony Pigott and Theologian and paranormal investigator Paul Eno about how evil can be seen as a parasite and how it can spread the like virus or pestilence.

C.S. Lewis wrote:

“And do you now begin to see why Christianity has always said that the devil is a fallen angel? That is not a mere story for the children. It is a real recognition of the fact that evil is a parasite, not the original thing.”

A parasite requires an independent life source in order to survive. In order for evil to spread like disease or a pestilence it must feed independently off the good and kindness of human kind.

If we think about it, civilization been failing and it can said that some kind of parasitic attack has been constantly plaguing us from before time began. Satan led rebellious angels into a revolt. They were commissioned to fight and eventually destroy God and his creation.

Their influence spread like a pestilence on every sphere in the cosmos.

The fallen angel Shemyaza, another form of Azazel, is said by Enoch to have taught humans the magical art of enchantment; the fallen angel Armaros taught the banishing of enchantments; Baraqijal taught astrology; Kokabiel, the knowledge of the constellations Chazaqiel, the knowledge of divination, the clouds and the sky; Shamsiel, the signs of the sun; Sariel the courses of the moon and the lunar cycles used in horticulture and agriculture and the esoteric lunar mysteries.

When Mothman made his appearance in West Virginia in 1966, I am sure that no one
who lived in the Ohio Valley was even aware of Pazuzu. The movie the Exorcist came out long after the disaster at the Silver Bridge and the reports of a winged man that terrorized the people of Point Pleasant, West Virginia.

The Exorcist showed the demonic image of Pazuzu and the second Exorcist film made clear what Pazuzu was capable of doing.

Pazuzu would possess warriors and would unleash swarms of locusts, great storms and drought.

He appears at a time when his wife, Lamashtu is actively seeking out children that
she can devour. Although Pazuzu is, himself, an evil spirit, he drives away other evil
spirits, and appears to warn humans of coming plagues and misfortunes.

According to ancient writings, Pazuzu arrived at the first Millennium and then would disappear for a time only to reappear at the turn of a decade, millennium or century to warn of a coming catastrophe.

It is interesting to also note that on the day of the first Mothman sighting, Walt Disney
died. While this may not have significance to the average investigator it may come as a
surprise to many people that the first real contemporary glimpse of a winged demon like
Mothman and Pazuzu came from the Disney’s film, Fantasia from 1940.

The Chernabog appears in the segment “A Night on Bald Mountain” and has been
called Disney’s best representation of pure evil. The huge, nocturnal and winged demon
is based on the god of the night in Slavonic mythology. At Walpurgis Night, Chernabog
emerges from the peak of Mount Triglaf, near Kiev in southern Russia, to summon all of his minions; he eventually throws them all into the mountain’s fiery pit.

The Pazuzu winged demon motif was also used in the movie, Jeepers Creepers.
The “creeper” was able to regenerate and according to the creators of the film was
human at one time. The creeper would feed every 23 years and was first seen as a
Scarecrow in the film. Crows of course are known as symbols of death.

In behind the scenes commentary, the producers of the film say that the Jeepers
Creepers story is loosely-based on the Mothman legends.

There are Native American legends about a winged creature with a dog face, red eyes and a serpent’s body that haunted the Ohio Valley. This is very similar to modern sightings and description of the Mothman. The Native Americans called this creature “Piasu.” Oddly, “Piasu” is not recognized as a name or word that matches any known American Indian language.

It is also of interest that Native Americans never lived in the region around Point Pleasant, West Virginia because they believed the area was haunted by “strange creatures.”

Mothman like Pazuzu, appeared in point pleasant and terrorized residents until the Silver Bridge collapsed. Mothman like Pazuzu, was a harbinger of disaster.

At 5:00 pm on December 15, 1967 the Silver Bridge collapsed claiming 46 lives and injuring 9. The Christmas rush applied an extra load to the 40 year old bridge causing a cleavage fracture in one of the Eye-Bars. This was followed by a ductile fracture near the pin. Unable to support the weight of the entire bridge, the south chain also snapped. The structure only took about one minute to completely fall into the river below.

The Police reported the grim sighting of Christmas presents and dead bodies floating down the Ohio River after the bridge had fallen. This was also an eerie coincidence because many residents had strange dreams about people drowning in the river with Christmas presents floating in the water.

The image of the winged demon continues to endure and it seems that the meme or the name of the demon, Pazuzu which builds the psychic construct somehow appears on the scene.

With the death of Pazuzu Algarad the frightening meme of Pazuzu has returned from the 14th Century BC. As horror festivals appear in the cinema and on television, the film The Exorcist will once again show us the image of the demon Pazuzu.

Andras – a Grand Marquis of Hell comes from the Testament of Solomon and is depicted in medieval art as a horned Moth looking creature riding a wolf . This winged demon was also responsible for sowing discord, and commanded 30 infernal legions. He is the 63rd of the 72 Djinn of Solomon.

The 15th card in the tarot deck is the Devil Card. The Devil is depicted as a horned hybrid with huge wings and animal claws looking very much like Pazuzu.

Le Stryge, the gargoyle on watch atop Notre Dame is also a winged demonic creature. The famous demon has been seen on postcards and was also seen in the movie Armageddon when France was hit by a meteor—however there are those who say that the demonic looking being is a Chimera.

The winged embodiment of the demonic and their names that are uttered remind us that we most sincerely live in a demon haunted world.

They are all ready to take flight at twilight to remind us that by the pricking of our thumbs something wicked this way comes.
