Dai Jishin: The Gods Must Be Crazy

DAI JISHIN
THE GODS MUST BE CRAZY

In the immediate and expedient present, we are ever vigilant for that day of doom and our awareness is limited by what is being said by NASA, USGS, CDC or a few paid scientists that decide to explain everything they do not wish to exclude for the sake of comfort and their alleged reputation.

Here we see people who constantly are crossing off the days of the calendar and trying to create a doom probability and continually use it to make you more aware of your mortality. Right or wrong, it is still fascinating to see the theories take shape.

The turbulent times of April are most certainly living up to their hype and the truth is it isn’t over yet. I said on an earlier show I would never give a due date for the end of the world, but I have been warning everyone that in the window of April 19th to May 1st, we will most certainly be having a white knuckle affair.

Well, at least some people are — those of us who live on the ring of fire are now thinking about the big one.

Back in July of last year, there was an article in New Yorker Magazine that stated Oregon would be the place for the “big one” to occur and the a giant tsunami would swallow most of the Willamette Valley.

“The Really Big One,” by Kathryn Schulz, is a real slice of doom porn and was published in The New Yorker’s website and in the July 20th print issue. The story reported that soon there will be a massive earthquake which will cripple the Pacific Northwest.

It was a story that raced into the mainstream network news cycle so quickly that Fox News Anchor, Shepherd Smith said that if he lived in the Pacific Northwest, he would consider moving. Then, he accentuated his statements with a pregnant pause and then said with a grim face, “Seriously.”

It leaves little to the imagination about the consequences of “a full-margin rupture” of the Cascadia Subduction Zone.

The Cascadia Subduction Zone runs from Cape Mendocino, California, to Vancouver Island, Canada. Those who live anywhere in that region and west of the Cascade Mountains are at risk, but how much risk and what kind varies considerably, based on where exactly you live in relationship to the fault line, how susceptible your area is to liquefaction and landslides, what kind of structure you’re in when the quake occurs, and your local seismic codes.

The New Yorker article paints a grim picture of what the Big One will do in the Pacific Northwest.

“By the time the shaking has ceased and the tsunami has receded, the region will be unrecognizable. FEMA projects that nearly thirteen thousand people will die in the Cascadia earthquake and tsunami. Another twenty-seven thousand will be injured, and the agency expects that it will need to provide shelter for a million displaced people, and food and water for another two and a half million.”

Several million earthquakes occur annually, but most are unnoticed because they’re so small.

But three recent earthquakes on Thursday and Saturday morning in Japan and Saturday night in Ecuador have gotten lots of attention because of their massive destructive effects.

When I left for New York Friday morning, I remember hearing that a seismic event happened. By the time I landed at JFK, there were now two major quakes in Japan, one in Ecuador. There was also a report of two volcanoes erupting a tornado out break and flooding in Texas.

All of the television monitors in JFK were all fixated on the disasters. So were the large monitors in Times Square. It was like I was in a snow globe witnessing the apocalypse and that for some reason, New York was protected. However, all snow globes get a shake now and again and people stop and wonder if the gods must be crazy unleashing the Earth’s fury simultaneously like this.

According to reports Ecuador’s quake killed at least 246 people and injured more than 2,500 along Ecuador’s coast.

The U.S. Geological Survey originally put the quake at a magnitude of 7.4 then raised it to 7.8. It had a depth of 19 kilometers (12 miles). More than 135 aftershocks followed, one as strong as magnitude-5.6, and authorities urged residents to brace for even stronger ones in the coming hours and days.

The quake was about six times as strong as the more powerful of two deadly earthquakes on the other side the Pacific, in the southernmost of Japan’s four main islands. A magnitude-6.5 earthquake struck Thursday near Kumamoto, followed by a magnitude-7.0 earthquake just 28 hours later. Those quakes killed 41 people and injured about 1,500, flattening houses and triggering major landslides.

The Japanese quake and the quake in Ecuador were 32 hours apart. Seismic experts also say the timing of the quakes in disparate parts of the globe is an unfortunate coincidence.

In Japan, hundreds of sensors detect the first pulse of an earthquake and send information about its size and location, giving officials a vital several-second head start on the impending disaster. Trains are automatically stopped to avoid derailment, signs are displayed on highways warning motorists not to head onto bridges, and messages are even sent out to surgeons so that they can remove their scalpels from patients before the shaking begins.

However with all of the sensors and all of the precautions, Japan is being inundated with earthquakes that are not in any way “normal.”

After this week’s spike in destructive Japanese earthquakes, which in addition to the two strongest tremors since 2011, has also unleashed several hundred smaller aftershocks, thousands injured, landslides, collapsed buildings and extensive damage, the most surprising after effect appeared on the streets of the southern Japanese city of Fukuoka which became blanketed in “mysterious foam” leaving residents baffled by the phenomenon which the authorities, busy with the disaster’s aftermath, found no time to explain.

Although the earthquakes took place across the Pacific from one another, both large earthquakes took place along what is known as the Ring of Fire, a region of tectonic activity encircling the Pacific.

This has given reason to believe that the earthquakes in Japan and Ecuador are linked in some way; seismologists are saying that there is no link. However a magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck southeast of Tonga in the south pacific, the US Geological Survey said.

Because the Ecuador earthquake was bigger, it is getting most of the headlines at the moment, but the truth is that what is going on in Japan is potentially far more dangerous.

Seismic activity in Southern Japan is mystifying geologists and keeping the nation on edge. The island of Kyushu has been struck by a series of significant earthquakes, with the epicenters moving progressively further inland. The cluster started with the deadly quakes that hit Kumamoto Prefecture last Thursday and Saturday. Temblors subsequently rocked the Mount Aso region and neighboring Oita Prefecture.

There is a known concentration of faults in the area. Still, experts say it is highly unusual to have a string of quakes measuring around magnitude 6 and stretching over such a vast area. The epicenter of the Oita jolt was about 100km away from the first Kumamoto quake.

The Japan Meteorological Agency said it is unprecedented to have a group of large quakes in these three parts of Kyushu. Experts are divided over how far the shaking will spread and whether it could prompt more quakes centered elsewhere.

The mainstream media in the United States is using the term “landslides” to describe what has happened all over Kyushu, but the truth is that in many instances it would be far more accurate to say that “giant cracks” or “vast chasms” have formed. The geography of Japan’s southern island has been fundamentally transformed, and this is beginning to cause huge concerns.

One major landslide tore open a mountainside in Minamiaso village in Kumamoto prefecture, destroying a key bridge that could cut off food and other relief transport to the worst-hit area. Another landslide hit a road, collapsing a house that fell down a ravine. In another part of the village, houses were left hanging precariously at the edge of a huge hole.

The dozens of earthquakes that have hit Japan’s southern island over the past week appear to form something of a straight line that divides the island in two. Many are now speculating that geological forces are beginning to tear Kyushu in half, and if that is true, the earthquake activity that we have seen in Japan so far is probably just the tip of the iceberg.

We could potentially be talking about an event that could ultimately have far more of an impact on Japan than the tsunami of 2011. By the time it is all said and done, entire cities could be wiped off the map and millions upon millions of Japanese citizens could be displaced.

It is also interesting to note that after the spike or quakes in Japan a “small-scale” eruption of Mount Aso has been recorded by the Japan Meteorological Agency.

According to Volcano Discovery, 40 volcanoes around the globe are erupting right now, and only 6 of them are not along the Ring of Fire. If that sounds like a very high number to you, that is because it is a very high number.

Seismic activity appears to have been getting stronger over the past few decades, and now things really seem to be accelerating.

If it seems like earthquakes and erupting volcanoes are happening more frequently, that’s because they are. Looking at global magnitude six (M6) or greater from 1980 to 1989 there was an average of 108.5 earthquakes per year, from 2000 to 2009 the planet averaged 160.9 earthquakes per year: that is a 38.9% increase of M6+ earthquakes in recent years.

Unrest also seems to be growing among the world’s super-volcanoes. Iceland, which is home to some of the most dangerous volcanoes on the planet, Santorini in Greece, Uturuncu in Bolivia, the Yellowstone and Long Valley calderas in the U.S., Laguna del Maule in Chile, Italy’s Campi Flegrei – almost all of the world’s active super-volcanic systems are now exhibiting some signs of inflation, an early indication that pressure is building in these volcanic systems.

But of course, most Americans are never going to care about any of this until it starts affecting them personally.

Well, perhaps they should start paying attention to the warning signs. In recent weeks, we have seen significant earthquakes in Michigan, Texas, Mississippi, California, Idaho and Washington. In addition, it is being reported that pressure is building in dormant volcanoes in Arizona and California. Just because we have not had a killer earthquake or a large volcanic eruption in the U.S. in recent years does not mean that it will always be that way.

Right now the entire planet appears to be waking up, and this especially seems to be true of the Ring of Fire.

So far, the west coast has been lucky – the northwest as well.

The rise in the intensity and the frequency of these earthquakes have even led countries like the United States and Canada to carry out mass evacuation drills in case of a life-threatening incident in the near future.

Last week, Roger Clooten, one of my investigators attended an earthquake drill in Hillsboro, Oregon. The drill was meant to prepare residents in Oregon for what is being called the inevitable.

The frequency of earthquake reports and seismic activity has actually spawned something called “earthquake sickness.”

The frequency of earthquakes not only in Japan and Ecuador but in parts of the United States where earthquakes rarely occur is triggering so much anxiety that people are now saying that they are feeling what are called “phantom quakes.”

Usually phantom quakes or earthquake sickness symptoms happen to earth quake survivors. Now there seems to be a small number of people that are becoming earthquake aware and are developing such a psychological fear that an earthquake will affect them that they are feeling tremors that don’t exist.

They are also feeling dizzy and nauseous.

Many people have shared stories on social media or otherwise about how sometimes, right out of the blue, they feel the Earth rumble. There have been constant stories of loud booms, earth rumbles and real small earthquake swarms in places near Yellowstone and in the state of Oklahoma.

With this much earthquake talk, some people with a general fear of the earth trembling –start to feel a tremor in their body and later realize that it was the mind playing games. Some doctors say this feeling is very similar to the swaying feeling that lingers on much after the person has gotten off the boat.

Or how, even though our phones are kept in the ringer mode, we feel like it is vibrating in our pockets.

A phantom quake is most likely to scare people who have already witnessed an earthquake in the recent past. An earthquake survivor commonly worries about a big tremor that has or is about to hit them. Something that’s quite understandable when you come out alive of a 7.0 magnitude.

Now those who haven’t been in a quake but still fear that one is coming is sometimes easily startled.

Many people in downtown Los Angeles feel them, and now there are reports coming in from Oklahoma. Some people even believe that a phantom vibration from a cell phone is an indication that a small earthquake may be coming within 500 miles.

Peter Tse, professor of psychological and brain sciences at Dartmouth College, said phantom vibrations happen because people develop a “template” in their heads. The brain is constantly filtering out background information.

Tse said sometimes when a person is monitoring or searching for something important to them — such as a cell phone call or the sound of their own name — some of this background information is picked up and matched to a mental template.

It’s called the cocktail party effect.

But false vibrations are less easily understood. Some neurologists compare it to the nerve sensations felt by amputees in the place of the missing limb.

The psychological impacts of earthquakes are fairly well-documented. People may not remember what they felt before or what they feel after a tremor, however it is becoming more of a statistical fact that most people do not even know that they sense an earthquake before it happens.

Many people experience lack of balance, headaches and even nausea before an earthquake. Many people who are sensitive to changes in the earth’s magnetic field get a sense of electric flutter. The flutter is believed to affect the Vagus nerve; this nerve has also been called the tenth cranial nerve, cranial nerve X.

The Vagus nerve helps to regulate the heart beat, control muscle movement, keep a person breathing, and to transmit a variety of chemicals through the body. It is also responsible for keeping the digestive tract in working order, contracting the muscles of the stomach and intestines to help process food, and sending back information about what is being digested and what the body is getting out of it.

If this wandering nerve is somehow disturbed or stimulated in the wrong way, the response can be deadly, heart rate can slow down or become erratic, breathing can slow down and some people can faint as a result or lapse into a coma. Some people feel like they are about to have a seizure.

Most of the time, you don’t notice the actions of the right and left Vagus nerves, but you probably would notice if this nerve ceased to function as a result of disease or trauma, because the Vagus nerve is one of the many vital nerves which keeps your body in working order. Without the functions of the Vagus nerve, you would find it difficult to speak, breathe, or eat, and your heartbeat would become extremely irregular.

These symptoms can also be present during magnetic changes brought on by sun storms and even close passes from meteors or asteroids.

During sun storms and geomagnetic activity, there is an increase in epileptic seizures and manic episodes in people with bi-polar disorder.

There have been scientific papers and peer-reviewed studies that are now indicating that, while animals seem to sense an impending quake and tsunami, human beings also are very aware of changes in the earth’s magnetic field and while much of what we experience is written off as common ailments there seems to be an increase in human discomfort and awkward behaviors during or before earthquakes, solar storms and meteor showers.

The magnetic effects of the sun and earth can affect pulse, blood pressure and attitude. The earth responds in kind magnetically to abrupt changes in the sun and human beings also are affected by EMF changes prior to a major earthquake. Prior to earth changes, people that are sensitive to events get migraine headaches, stiff neck muscles, nausea and acid reflux.

Some people find themselves bumping into furniture, dropping things like keys. There also seems to be a craving for foods containing corn like popcorn, corn chips or cheese puffs right before or after an earthquake hits.

Others may crave chocolate because of a need for magnesium in the body.

In Japan, the frequency and force of the recent earth shaking has led to an epidemic of what’s known in Japanese as jishin-yoi, which literally means “earthquake drunk” in English.

There is also something called the “Charlotte King Effect.”

Charlotte King actually is earthquake sensitive and can feel when a major earthquake is about to occur anywhere on the planet. She claims that before a major earthquake, people do sense that it will occur but they just don’t pay attention. Many common things like migraine, aches and pains, and even vertigo can be triggered by electromagnetic disturbances on the Earth.

Charlotte also was able to hear what she claims was foghorn sounds or moaning sounds from the earth prior to an earthquake or volcanic eruption. These sounds are much like the sounds that people have been recording around the world that sound like ship horns or angel trumpets.

Most people pay no mind to certain symptoms that they feel are normal disruptions of life. Every symptom can be eliminated by a pill or rest. People normally pay no mind to the possibility that their body is telling them that there are changes happening within the earth or with the Sun.

This can happen before a quake or days after a quake. Experts are weighing on this “earthquake sensitivity” and are narrowing it down to a possible condition that starts in the inner ear.

Doctors are saying that before and after a major earthquake there may be a neurological “mismatch” between the balance mechanism in the vestibular system of the inner ear and sensory signals from nerves in the eyes and feet.

Earthquakes can trigger various symptoms of nausea, dizziness, and headaches that feel similar to migraine. In severe cases people experience clumsiness, falling and vomiting.

It also can trigger financial collapse, geopolitical instability and civil unrest.

We will most definitely be seeing an economic downturn for Japan – and this of course will affect us… as the waves will move like ripples through the world as natural disasters will have us in their grip.
