Area 51 is the common name of a highly classified United States Air Force facility located within the Nevada Test and Training Range. Officially, the facility is called Homey Airport or Groom Lake, named after the salt flat situated next to its airfield.
Although details of the facility’s operations are not publicly known, the USAF says it is an open training range, and it most likely supports the development and testing of experimental aircraft and weapons systems, based on historical evidence. The USAF acquired the site in 1955, primarily for flight testing the Lockheed U-2 aircraft.

hey candy–it is called the Nellis test range–includes the tonopah test site which was built in the 1980ties –mostly underground and take direct nuke hits–the used to have almost 200 nuke equip stealth aircraft which after a nuke war would go out in destroy what ever was left- groom lake(51) is mostly in the mountain—there is many areas in the Nellis test range,51 is one of many–the biggest thing going on out their is the ion powered craft which is unbelievable–no details–for all you homies that what to see something go to the dirt roads that overlook the tonopah test site off hiway 6 around the 25 to 40 mile post or go to Base camp at mile post 60 on u.s. 6 —the enemy of the usa(take your pick) know exactly what is going on out there so it really does not matter- the security just does not want a bunch of clowns making trouble
