MONOLOGUE WRITTEN BY CLYDE LEWIS

In 1966, Walter Cronkite “the most trusted man in America” hosted an hour-long CBS special report titled UFO: Friend, Foe, or Fantasy. At the time, the UFO craze in the United States showed no sign of ebbing. There had been periodic waves of sightings for nearly 20 years, spawning flying saucer cults, amateur groups of zealous researchers, and a lucrative genre of sci-fi movies and books.

For his show, Cronkite enlisted a number of prominent experts, such as a young astronomer named Carl Sagan, to demystify UFOs. J. Allen Hynek, another astronomer who was a scientific adviser to the Pentagon’s ongoing UFO investigation, also was featured.

After Cronkite was done with the science portion of the show, he turned to other possible explanations, such as new military technology, “strange-looking crafts” that had been created by the budding aerospace industry for the Air Force. There were also other unknown craft, he added, “probably being tested in secret.”

Still, public interest in UFOs could not be dimmed. Several years after Cronkite’s broadcast, the Air Force contracted with the University of Colorado (CU) to convene a distinguished panel of scientists on the subject.

Led by the CU physicist Edward Condon, the group concluded in 1968 after an in-depth study that there was no basis to the extraterrestrial interpretation of UFO reports and that nothing has come from the study of UFOs in the past 21 years.”

The panel’s voluminous report totaled nearly 1,000 pages and focused “almost entirely on the physical sciences,” meaning it examined UFO sightings in the context of explainable celestial and meteorological phenomena.

In 1969, a National Academy of Sciences panel reviewed the report and concurred with its finding, writing: “While further study of particular aspects of the topic (e.g., atmospheric phenomena) may be useful, a study of UFOs, in general, is not a promising way to expand scientific understanding of the phenomena.” Pointing to these conclusions, the Pentagon announced that it would no longer investigate UFO reports.

None of this seemed to reduce the allure of flying saucers. UFOs remained a hot topic into the 1970s, as a new wave of popular sci-fi films, such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Alien, continued to stoke public fascination. By the late 1990s, other big UFO subthemes had been prominently introduced into pop culture, such as the abduction phenomenon and government conspiracy narrative, via best-selling books and, of course, The X-Files.

60 Minutes devoted a significant portion of Sunday night’s broadcast to exploring incidents of Navy pilots witnessing unidentified aerial phenomena and the United States government’s recent acknowledgment of the issue. Amazingly, the nearly 15-minute-long segment was the first time the program has ever covered UFOs in its more than five decades on the air. The piece largely served as an explainer to the 60 Minutes audience who may have been unaware of the remarkable series of UFO-related events that have been unfolding since the late 2017 New York Times article that revealed a Pentagon program to study unidentified aerial phenomena.

The 60 minutes episode apparently has got the ball rolling in the mainstream media as UFO reports and discussions have been splashed all over the internet today and there was even a segment on ABC TV’s “The View” discussed the UFO phenomena but it certainly seemed as though the women sounded like most media elite, not knowing the difference between Roswell and Area 51.

Whoopi Goldberg who hosts The View commented on the 60 minutes segment – and also pointed out that the head of the investigation into UFO’s was none other than Republican Senator Marco Rubio. She gave a kind of sneer and then asked the panel about what they thought.

Many of them were excited about the news including Megan McCain and Sunny Hostin who claimed she knew everything about the subject including Area 53—in which McCain quickly corrected her and then went on about the Phoenix Lights.

Then of course the panel asked Joy Behar- who is always crabby and has to insert her over the top liberal views on everything poo pooed the entire affair while taking Jabs at Rubio.

She said “Well first of all Marco Rubio instead of looking up in the sky should look over his shoulder because Val Demings is closing in and maybe running for his seat.” Demings is a former Orlando Police chief that will be running against Rubio in 2022.

She then went on to read some cut and pace piece she ripped off the internet explaining that aliens can’t even get here –and then she said “Why would they?”

Everyone is entitled to their skepticism but I believe that the crabby nay saying by Behar is all based on her hatred of republicans.

However, she may not even realize that much of this demand for investigation has been bipartisan. From Harry Reid, Hillary Clinton, and John Podesta.

Even Barack Obama weighed in on the subject recently –even though in the past he has been apprehensive about the subject matter.

According to this Morning’s New York Post, Obama is now concerned about the UFO’s that have been grazing our military ships and while he used to feel awkward talking about the subject, he is now being very open.

“We can’t explain how they moved, their trajectory … they did not have an easily explainable pattern,” he said of growing reports of sights, many recorded by the Navy.

So I think that people still take seriously trying to investigate and figure out what that is. But I have nothing to report to you today,” he said, without elaborating on his own views on what the mysterious objects likely were.

Yahoo news also covered the UFO excitement by publishing a story about a UFO that was sighted in July of 2019.

The video was captured by Navy aircraft and recorded in the USS Omaha’s Combat Information Center.

The clip appears to show a spherical object flying above the water for a few minutes near San Diego before it vanishes. The Defense Department confirmed that the clip was recorded by Navy personnel and said it will be reviewed by the Pentagon’s Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force, a panel established last year to “gain insight” into the “nature and origins” of such objects.

The video was published a few days before “60 Minutes” aired an interview with two former Navy pilots who recalled having been dispatched to investigate “multiple anomalous aerial vehicles” that descended 80,000 feet in less than a second. The incident also occurred off San Diego in 2004.

One of the pilots, Cmdr. Dave Fravor, told “60 Minutes” that personnel found a “little white Tic-Tac-looking object” moving above the water before it disappeared. Seconds later, his ship — the USS Princeton — said the object reappeared on its radar 60 miles away.

Christopher Mellon, a top defense official in the Clinton and George W. Bush administrations, said in an interview that there was “a lot of continuity” between recent reports of unidentified objects and reports dating back decades.

Obviously, times have changed – the Cold War may be over, but a secret space race has returned and so have reports of fast-moving UFOs. The mission to acclimate us to UFO’s seems to be underway and as we reported the other night with Walter Bosley the so-called Government disclosure is being met with apprehension as many people are thinking that the Military knows exactly who is behind the UFO’s and they are not thinking little green men.

However, the 60 minutes interview again left many people who haven’t seen the new videos awestruck.

All of the old UFO stories are still valid because we are now at a time where the so-called cold war conspiracy theories are no longer theories and the smirks that once were on the faces of scientists and government officials are now being replaced with raised eyebrows.

Now that we are learning more and more about the Pentagon and how they are now dealing with Unidentified Flying Objects, we now realize that most of the deception that was carried out during Project Sign, Grudge and Blue Book has now backfired and while the military seems justified in covering up the truth for 70 years -others are demanding answers for the sake of final disclosure of the ETI reality.

The “seven-decade deception” might also have inadvertently contributed to the lingering distrust felt toward scientific experts by UFO believers. After all, those blue-ribbon panels in the late 1960s dismissed most sightings as optical illusions. Since then, scientists have become even more exasperated by the persistence of UFOs in the public mind. But we now know that a good number of those strange aircraft sightings were likely real—just not extraterrestrial in origin.

This larger, complex history of the UFO phenomenon is especially problematic for professionals in the military and intelligence community who have come forward of late with alarming stories of unknown “anomalous” aircraft and plead to be taken seriously.

It appears that the mainstream is now taking UFO’s seriously as long as politics are not an issue – and it appears the public are being readied for the government’s announcement in June.

In the meantime, there has been an increase of sightings all over the United States and lately there have been some impressive videos and photos of UFO’s that are up for scrutiny.

The difficult thing is that the media has been doing stories of strange lights in the sky hinting that they are strange UFO’s when in reality they are a string of pearl like lights that are quite simply satellites launched by Elon Musk.

On May 5th the day after the launch of Space X Star Link satellite array, people in Western Washington state were puzzled by a long streak of lights seen moving in the night sky.

A report by NBC affiliate KING 5 said that photos and videos appeared on social media shortly after 9 p.m. from people in the Bellevue, Puyallup and Covington, Washington areas and as far south as Portland, Oregon.

Some stargazers questioned whether it could be a UFO sighting, but a tweet posted by the National Weather Service said the lights appeared to be associated with the launch of SpaceX’s Starlink satellite on May 4th from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Some 10 days later, a group of EMT’s in Laurel, Montana were at a party when John Carlbom picked up his cellphone on May the 15th and started filming a floating bar of light that was cruising at high altitude above the trees. The video was submitted to me personally by witness Cody Miller. The video was remarkable. It was also similar to photos that were sent to me from Davey Arnold who said he say this huge UFO that was a solid object that floated above Sisters, Oregon.

After I posted the video, there were others who chimed in from Helena, Montana to Salt Lake City, Utah that saw the object as well.

There were many listeners who claimed that it was the Star link satellite array and of course I thought perhaps it could be but the launch of new satellites were on May 4th and streak were reported in the sky the day after.

Then I received very clear photos of the UFO that was said to have been sighted in in Port Coquitlam Canada, the photos were shot on a s10 phone by someone named Mathew. He said that the UFO hovered for a while so he could get learn photos of it. He said it then took off.

These photos are clearly not of the Star Link Satellite array. It can also be a possibility that the videos and pictures are all the same UFO sighted on May the 15th, 2021.

I encouraged all of those who had the sightings to submit their pictures and reports to the UFO reporting center for review by the Director Peter Davenport.

We know that the military stories and now the mainstream attempts at reporting these events are going to spawn UFO sightings—and we know that there is plenty of things out in space that can be mistaken for alien spaceships—so this is why it is crucial to not just snap a picture or make a video but report you UFO sighting to the UFO center for analysis.

Whatever disclosure awaits us, it is time to take responsibility and report what is seen and be thorough about it because now they seem to be a matter of nation security now the Pentagon is taking these things seriously with their new forthcoming report.

What exactly those briefings are going to revel is unclear, but the mounting interest lends those with a belief in, or a curiosity about, the possibility of extraterrestrial life more fuel for speculation. The notion that the government knows more than it’s telling us has often figured into theories about alien life and claims of UFO sightings. Government actions in the last two years, including the briefings and steps by the Navy to formalize UFO reporting processes, would seem to feed into that dynamic.

The task at hand is trying to get the information that is being buried in political foot-dragging and who knows – either the information will be a big dud or maybe we will all be surprised – the interest is peaking, and the view is that we may have some answers sooner than later.
