The Wisconsin Republicans finally did what many have been calling for them to do for a couple of weeks – they stripped the collective bargaining reforms from the budget bill and voted for them separately 18-1. There is no quorum necessary in bills that are not about spending. The cowardly, undemocratic, fleebagging Wisconsin Democrats were not needed for a vote to be cast. From Associated Press:
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Republicans in the Wisconsin Senate voted Wednesday night to strip nearly all collective bargaining rights from public workers after discovering a way to bypass the chamber’s missing Democrats.
All 14 Senate Democrats fled to Illinois nearly three weeks ago, preventing the chamber from having enough members present to consider Gov. Scott Walker’s so-called “budget repair bill” – a proposal introduced to plug a $137 million budget shortfall.

Pro-union hacks are now calling for a general strike. They should go for it. It will further prove to the American people that public sector unions should be banned. Holding Americans hostage for not getting their own ‘union way’ is absolutely deplorable. Just like the Wisconsin teachers who pulled a ‘sick out’ and abandoned students for days (students who may have relied on school lunches as their main meal), public sector unions that strike hurt the very people they are paid to be helping. Just like the Wisconsin teachers who failed their students and parents (many who probably had to miss time at work to take care of their children), a general strike just further proves that unions are all about themselves and how much they can siphon from the taxpayers.
