Ferguson Decision Looming

In Ferguson, Missouri, calm before the storm. That’s the predominant feeling, as protesters and police mill about, waiting for an answer regarding the Michael Brown case. Will the officer who shot Michael Brown, be indicted?
18 year old Michael Brown was shot and by Darren Wilson back in August. Dan Johnson was walking alongside Brown, when he says Officer Wilson approached them, asking questions, and then getting so aggressive, he fired his weapon 6 times. While we haven’t heard from him directly, Wilson has a different story. Sources close to Wilson say he suffered severe facial injuries from an altercation with Brown, and that he only fired his gun to protect himself. Between the 2 autopsies released, Brown was shot anywhere from 6 to 8 times. A third autopsy has yet to be released to the public.
Going on over 70 days, protesters March the streets of Ferguson demanding Justice. Police in Ferguson have been harshly criticized over their military style equipment. Many photos of the Ferguson police have gone viral, including photos of mine resistant vehicles, full blown riot gear, and throwing tear gas at unarmed protesters and journalists.
Attorney General Eric Holder has been working with the Justice Department to make sure law enforcement is handling all protesters in the most appropriate way.
The future isn’t clear for Ferguson as the wait for a decision continues. The answer everyone is waiting for, is to be given sometime this month. While outsiders continue to flood the city, residents are preparing for the worse. If Wilson is not indicted, set free, Ferguson may see protests much worse than the first round back in August. City officials have been passing out pamphlets throughout the city letting them know there may be chaos, and to plan as if they were in the event of a storm. Gun sales in the areas have increased significantly, one gun retailer has seen almost a 300% increase. Fear is spreading fast throughout the community as they brace for an answer.
