Does Barack Obama Possess These Three Personality Disorders?
Personality disorders that might explain the way he has performed, or not performed, as President of the United States!
I was driven to write this by the current debate over whether or not to bring or delay bringing Syrian refugees we cannot sufficiently vet to our shores but, by now, we all unfortunately know the drill concerning Barack Obama. A drill that can be described by the partial list below.
We know all know these things unfortunately through the way in which Barack Obama has performed both domestically and as our foreign policy and national security leader during his 7-years in office.
A dismal performance of his one actual job as POTUS, the protection of the United States and its citizens, that has been wontonly neglected for reasons only he knows.
Observations of Barack Obama:
- Refusal to ever change course or admit that a policy or ‘strategy’ may not be working. In other words an inability to ever concede or acknowledge either to the public or himself obvious mistakes,
- Lack of any apparent ability to express emotion over some of the most heinous acts of violence and murder that have been committed against innocents,
- An almost adolescent approach to even the most serious situations that seem to compel him to point fingers rather than to emote empathy,
- What appears to be a compulsion to obsess over issues that may or may not be a priority at the time, in the countries best interests or within his job description,
- An approach to issues and conflicts that seems, at least to this amateur psychologist, to indicate an inferiority complex that forces him to attack rather than to ever discuss and compromise,
- There are no doubt more I am forgetting so please feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments below.
- Is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
- Believes that he or she is “special” and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions)
- Requires excessive admiration
- Has a very strong sense of entitlement, e.g., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations
- Is exploitative of others, e.g., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends
- Lacks empathy, e.g., is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others
- Is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her
- Regularly shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes
- Suspects, without sufficient basis, that others are exploiting, harming, or deceiving him or her
- Is preoccupied with unjustified doubts about the loyalty or trustworthiness of friends or associates
- Is reluctant to confide in others because of unwarranted fear that the information will be used maliciously against him or her
- Reads hidden demeaning or threatening meanings into benign remarks or events
- Persistently bears grudges (i.e., is unforgiving of insults, injuries, or slights)
- Perceives attacks on his or her character or reputation that are not apparent to others, and is quick to react angrily or to counterattack
- Has recurrent suspicions, without justification, regarding fidelity of spouse or sexual partner
- Failure to conform to social norms with respect to lawful behaviors as indicated by repeatedly performing acts that are grounds for arrest
- Deceitfulness, as indicated by repeated lying, use of aliases, or conning others for personal profit or pleasure
- Impulsivity or failure to plan ahead
- Irritability and aggressiveness, as indicated by repeated physical fights or assaults
- Reckless disregard for safety of self or others
- Consistent irresponsibility, as indicated by repeated failure to sustain consistent work behavior or honor financial obligations
- Lack of remorse, as indicated by being indifferent to or rationalizing having hurt an individual. They may display a glib, superficial charm and can be quite voluble and verbally facile (e.g., using technical terms or jargon that might impress someone who is unfamiliar with the topic). Lack of empathy, inflated self-appraisal, and superficial charm are features that have been commonly included in traditional conceptions of psychopathy and may be particularly distinguishing of Antisocial Personality Disorder in prison or forensic settings where criminal, delinquent, or aggressive acts are likely to be nonspecific. These individuals may also be irresponsible and exploitative in their sexual relationships.
