The long-awaited release of 28 pages redacted from a 2002 Congressional report on the 9/11 hijackings and subsequent attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon were made public Friday, asserting that high-ranking members of the Saudi Arabian government were intimately involved in the planning and financing of the terror attacks.

“While in the United States, some of the September 11 hijackers were in contact with, and received support or assistance from, individuals who may have been connected to the Saudi Government,” [see below for much stronger quotes than "may have been"! -ED] the report states. “There is information, primarily from FBI sources, that at least two of those individuals were alleged by some to be Saudi intelligence officers.”

The report acknowledges that it cannot, with any certainty, answer a critical question: who, in either the Saudi government or its monarchical royal family knew what, and when?

But the released pages portray the involvement of at least one Saudi intelligence officer, Omar al-Bayoumi, as intimately involved in the terror plot, and provided “substantial assistance” to 9/11 hijackers Khalid al-Midhar and Nawaf al-Hazmi, two of the five terrorists who crashed American Airlines Flight 77 into the Pentagon.

In February 2000, the report says, al-Bayoumi met with hijackers in a public place in San Diego “shortly after his meeting with an individual at the Saudi consulate.” There is no reason to believe this meeting was accidental, the report states, and ineed, the intelligence officer had “extensive contact” with Saudi government officials in the US at the same time as the meeting with the hijackers.

The report goes on to say that al-Bayoumi received financial support from a Saudi company affiliated with the Saudi Ministry of Defense,

“According to FBI files … al-Bayoumi received a monthly salary [from the company] even though he had had only been there on one occasion,” the report says. “The support increased substantially in April 2000, two months after the hijackers arrived in San Diego, decreased slightly in December 2000, and stayed at that same level until August 2001. That company reportedly had ties to Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaeda.”

Al-Bayoumi, the report states, was also a close associate of Osama Bassnan, who the FBI believed was a supporter of Osama bin Laden and may have been a Saudi intelligence officer. He lived across the street from the two hijackers, al-Midhar and al-Hazmi, and told an FBI asset that he met the men through al-Bayoumi. Bassnan claims that al-Bayoumi “knew the men very well,” but that he himself “did more than Al-Bayoumi did for the hijackers.”

“According to a CIA memo, Bassnan reportedly received funding and possibly a fake passport from Saudi Government officials. He and his wife have received [not "reportedly" recieved but "received", notice -ED] financial support from the Saudi Ambassador to the United States and his wife,” according to the redacted pages, which also notes that Bassnan had also received money from a member of the Saudi royal family.

Also implicated in the report is a U.S.-based corporation, and, by association, Bandar bin Sultan [THE FAMOUS "BANDAR BUSH" SO CLOSE TO THE BUSH FAMILY -ED] , a member of the House of Saud who served as Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the U.S. from 1983 to 2005.

The report linked Abu Zubaida, a senior Al-Qaeda operative captured in 2002, to certain phone numbers in the US by thumbing through his address book. One of those numbers is for the Aspen-based ASPCOL Corporation, a company that was managed the affairs of Ambassador bin Sultan ["Bandar Bush" -ED], even though the phone number was unlisted.

Saudi Arabia, an ally of [you mean: a brutal beheaving jihadi-funding dicatorship WORKING WITH] the U.S. in the Middle East, has firmly denied any involvement in the attacks and repudiated these accusations, and had previously fought against the declassification of the 28 pages. In April, Riyadh threatened the U.S. with economic retaliation if Congress passed a bill to allow the Saudi government to be held responsible for any role it played in the 9/11 attacks.

The 28 redacted pages represent a swath of the 2002 congressional inquiry into the Sept. 11 attacks, which had been classified to maintain the U.S. government´s close diplomatic ties to and strategic partnership with the House of Saud. Lawmakers and families of the September 11 victims have fought for years to make public any evidence that the kingdom might have helped the attackers, and Friday, the Obama administration sent a declassified version of the document, with some redactions, to the congressional leadership on Friday.

It was released hours later on the website of the House Intelligence Committee.

   government establishments in the US during the same time as the meeting with the hijackers, making over 100 phone calls to such establishments and received
   repeated financial support from a Saudi company called “Ercan,” which itself received money from the Saudi Ministry of Defense.

   A member of Ercan told the FBI that he tried to refuse to pay al-Bayoumi, but the company told him that if al-Bayoumi wasn’t paid, it would lose its contract
   with the Saudi Defense Ministry.

   “According to FBI files … al-Bayoumi received a monthly salary [Ercan] even though he had had only been there on one occasion,” the report says. “The support
