Ben Carson Refers To Slaves As “Immigrants” While Talking To HUD Employees

Well, Ben Carson is certainly jumping into his new role as Secretary of HUD with both feet.

While addressing department employees, he referred to slaves as “immigrants.”

Said Carson:

“That’s what America is about. A land of dreams and opportunity,” Carson said. “There were other immigrants who came here in the bottom of slave ships, worked even longer, even harder for less.”

He added: “But they, too, had a dream that one day their sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, great-granddaughters might pursue prosperity and happiness in this land.”

I’m sure some did dream along those lines.

I’m not sure they fit the exact definition of the term “immigrants,” however.
