Hillary Clinton was allegedly offered a plea deal after the U.S. Department of Justice reopened an investigation into her e-mail server, according to a single claim. Until more credible media outlets pick up on the story it is currently an unproven claim. Clinton has been attached to many allegations stemming from her time as Secretary of State for former President Barack Obama’s administration.

Snopes is reporting that the claim is currently unproven that Clinton was offered a plea deal in August 2017 after the government’s agency reopened the investigation into her handling of classified material on a private server. Where did this unproven claim originate?

NewsMax author Ed Klein published the article titled “Hillary’s Plea Bargain” on Aug. 8, 2017, where he writes that Clinton was given a plea bargain when it was believed that the 2016 Democratic presidential candidate was prosecutable on “a number of counts.”
