According to a military source in the coastal city of Jableh, an unknown militant group targeted the Hmaymim Airbase with armed drones at midnight… The source stated that the Russian military was able to intercept the armed drones after they approached the Hmaymim Airbase’s northeastern perimeter last night… The Russian military activated their air defense sirens and then fired several missiles to intercept these armed drones that are believed to have been deployed from the Al-Ghaab Plain in southwest Idlib.. The first armed drone attack on the Hmaymim Airbase by the militant forces occurred on Saturday; it was fully repelled by the Russian military, the Kremlin claimed… This attack by the militant forces in northwest Syria is reasonably occurring because of the Russian military’s ongoing participation in the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) Daraa offensive… On Saturday, several jihadist groups in northern Hama forced to launch an offensive against the Syrian Arab Army in retaliation for the Daraa offensive; however, then far, no attacks have occurred against the government forces at this front…
