Nancy Pelosi Is Gearing Up to Use Identity Politics to Gain Power Over Democrats In the House

It didn’t work out well for Hillary Clinton, but it may very well for Pelosi.

The majority of Democrats don’t want Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) in charge as House Majority Leader again, but it’s likely that it’s going to be the case regardless of any opposition she faces.

One of the reasons is because of Pelosi’s ability to hit the Democratic party’s weak spot, identity politics, with great ferocity. You can already see Pelosi rigging the fight within the Democratic party early with CNN appearances focusing on the fact that even those within the Democratic party don’t respect her because she’s a woman.

That, at least, seems to be her angle. “Put me in charge because I’m not a man” looks to be her strategy when it comes to Democrats making up their minds, and given the Democrats obedience to the social justice/identity politics agenda, it may very well work.

According to Ashe Schow at the Daily Wire, this is a multi-angle attack, with her ginning up media and activist support following this same line of thinking.

Pelosi is trying to retain power even as opposition to her speakership grows. Now she’s warning Democrats not to vote against a woman (her) after the Democrat Party spent the past two years sacrificing men and sanity to cater to angry feminists who think American women are some of the most oppressed in the world.

The argument goes, according to Politico, that women propelled the party to victory, so a woman (she) should lead.

“Push her out, and men may take over the party at a time when more than 100 women are heading to Capitol Hill and after female voters have been thoroughly alienated by President Donald Trump,” Politico reported. “Embrace her, and she’ll prioritize legislation empowering women on issues ranging from equal pay to anti-harassment legislation.”

Schow adds that politicians are already falling in line:

“I think it would look ridiculous if we win back the House … we have a pink wave with women who have brought back the House, then you’re going to not elect the leader who led the way? No,” Rep. Lois Frankel (D-FL) told Politico. “That would be wrong.”

Incoming Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-TX) echoed Frankel’s statement: “We have a president who is a misogynist, a president who has been antagonistic to women’s issues… There is no better person at the very top than” Pelosi.

Other Democrat women may lose their bids for top positions within the party. They’ll lose their bids not because of their sex, but because more talented men are also running. But that doesn’t matter, the party must promote people based on identifying features, not talent.

Pelosi may be a sensationalistic politician who tends to use fear and paranoia to push her goals forward more than she does facts by a large degree, however, no one can deny that Pelosi is an expert politician who knows how to play the game.

At this time, the game is to use the fact that Pelosi is female to dismiss any other challengers who, though possibly more qualified, sit higher on the supposed societal totem pole. Despite Nancy Pelosi’s power and wealth, by the left’s rules of social justice, her womanhood makes her a victim of patriarchal discrimination. Not giving her the Speakership, especially at a time when Democrats are electing more women to office, would look very bad for Democrats, especially to their supporters.

Few people actually want Pelosi in charge, but it looks like they’re going to have to begrudgingly accept her.
