On 14 May 2021, settlers and soldiers came to the village in Nablus District. The settlers threw stones at homes and residents and fired in the air, and residents threw stones at them. The soldiers used force against the residents instead of distancing the settlers. After the party moved to a distant hilltop, a soldier shot and killed ‘Asirah and injured another resident although they posed no danger. Such collaboration between soldiers and settlers is part of Israel’s unofficial policy to drive Palestinians out and take over West Bank land.

King Abdullah holds talks with Palestinian President Abbas in Amman

Jordan’s King Abdullah II met Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at Al Husseiniya Palace in Amman on Wednesday.

After the official ceremony, the two leaders discussed bilateral relations, in the presence of Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.

According to the Jordanian Royal Court statement, Abdullah II stressed the importance of translating the ceasefire in Gaza into an extended truce “that pushes towards a political solution that fulfils the Palestinian people’s rights”.

President Abbas in turn stressed the importance of the Hashemite Custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, as the statement concluded.

Abbas visit comes amid ongoing tensions in Jerusalem, as many Palestinian families are at risk of being evicted from the city’s Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood.

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett conditioning aid meant for Gaza’s post conflict reconstruction on the return of these captives. But the US’ Biden administration opposing such conditions.., holding firm that the demand could cause ceasefire negotiations to fall apart.

Hamas chief meets Hezbollah leader in Beirut as part of regional tour

Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh met Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut on Tuesday.

A Hezbollah statement said that Nasrallah and Haniyeh discussed the recent war ‘in detail’ as well as what the statement described as “enabling the resistance to build on the great victory to reach decisive victory.”

The statement assured of the depth of relations between Hezbollah and Hamas.

Earlier on Monday, Haniyeh held separate meetings with President Michel Aoun, parliament speaker Nabih Berri as well as the caretaker prime minister, Hassan Diab.
