In a story that is not getting the attention it so richly deserves, the intrepid Tucker Carlson picks up the story of the trial of the infamous Whitmer kidnapping plot. And it doesn’t end with Whitmer:

But the government not only attempted to manufacture “terrorists” in the Whitmer kidnapping hoax—the same FBI operation also tried to coax a man in Virginia to participate in the same sort of plot against Virginia Governor Ralph Northam. That scheme didn’t fully materialize, but the FBI’s attempt to pull off a similar stunt in Virginia reveals just how far agents were willing to go to bolster FBI Director Christopher Wray’s false warning that domestic extremists planned to “kill and assassinate” public officials.

The set up:

Under questioning from Sen. Ted Cruz, FBI Director Chris Wray admits the FBI Special Agent in Charge of the Detroit Field Office who oversaw the Whitmer kidnapping entrapment and “absolute debacle” is now in charge of the Washington, D.C. Office, overseeing the J6 investigation.

Even the old grey lady has a headline thinks there may be some “mistrust”:

Two men are charged with conspiring to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. But a first trial ended with no convictions, and questions about the F.B.I.’s tactics.

Building that trust was already hard, as jurors showed in April when they acquitted two men and failed to reach verdicts for Mr. Croft and Mr. Fox. But it may be more difficult at a time of even higher political tension, with Ms. Whitmer, a Democrat, campaigning for re-election and F.B.I. agents searching former President Donald J.
