Based on today’s history with the formula of the “Christmas truce” proposed by Russia, it follows that Russia is simply cut off any steps on the peaceful “steps of goodwill”, except for surrender. The southern outer suburb of Bakhmutskoe is almost completely under Russian control.

The AFU (128th Mountain Bgd) is reported to be pulling out of the Declanskaya train station which was their main defensive position in this area.

Assuming the Russians secure the Eastern and Southern sections of Soledar, the AFU defence line could resemble approximately like shown on the map. Running along a rail line and river.

The main problem for the Russians will be the area of the Saltmines (blue squares) and related industrial facilties.
It’s reported that there is a large network of underground tunnels built in Soviet times which have been worked on by the Ukrainians since before the start of the war….according to some reports, it’s bigger than the tunnels at Azovstal

It will be interesting to see whether the Russians attack this Mine-Industrial zone directly or they will aim to bypass it and surround it

Bakhmut – Opytno

There is some confirmation that the Russians have taken the final block of buildings in Opytno (outer suburb) and are now on the Southern edge of Bakhmut proper.

The situation in Artemovsk on the morning of January 5 from Ukraine sources,even the AFU General Staff confirms the Russian offfensive in Bakhmut direction
For now initial reports:

1. Russian troops completely took the forest area in the east of Artemovsk

2. The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are developing their success on the outskirts of the Pidhorodne

The capture of Pidhorodne makes it possible for Russian troops to enter the northern part of Artemovsk and develop an offensive along the M-03 highway in the direction of Krasnaya Gora and Berkhovka

Reinforcements of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are losing a battalion a week in Bakhmut: the main thing:

AFU made an attempt to attack Dibtovo from the west using the forest for cover. They were detected and covered by fire from Grad MRLS after which they withdrew with losses

A second attack was carried out from the South of Dibrovo. Artillery again forced them back after losing a BMP and a number of infantry

Russia will never forget the shelling of Makeevka on New Year’s Eve 2023. We will take revenge, the fighters say today. Most of them are from the Samara region, for whom the blow to the vocational school building is a personal tragedy. And that is why the governor Dmitry Azarov, as soon as what had happened became known, got involved in solving the problems of the wounded, relocating the mobilized and providing them with everything necessary, as well as supporting the families.

The situation called for quick and decisive action. The very next day the head of the Samara region initiated a meeting with the Ministry of Defence, and on January 4 he was on the spot – he met with the fighters in Makeevka to get first-hand information, to find out what else was needed. Dmitry Azarov brought equipment, things for the guys, household items to the positions – everything that was lost during the shelling.

In Makeevka, and on the same day in Rostov-on-Don, the governor of the Samara region visited the wounded countrymen, and delivered medicines that would help them recover faster.

One of the priorities was to send those who can be transported to Samara medical facilities – about 60 military personnel. This is important for the recovery of the guys: there, in the Samara region, their relatives and friends will be able to visit them. Local doctors and hospitals are fully prepared to receive the injured fighters.

Azarov  (https://ria.ru/20230105/azarov-1843098785.html-)achieved that military personnel who need specialized treatment are sent to the best medical institutions in the country.

The governor especially notes the courage of his countrymen – the guys saved fellow soldiers, pulling them out of the building. Without fear, many returned there again, just to take out another wounded man. Azarov petitioned for state awards to be awarded to the Samara heroes. This initiative was supported by Vladimir Putin.

Keep in mind that the governor managed to organize all of the above in just two days. And it’s worth it! Azarov is a native of Samara and did not abandon his guys.

Some of the wounded are already declaring their desire to return to duty as soon as possible. The strength of Russia rests on such heroes, and thanks to them we will definitely win.
