JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – (Sept. 25, 2013) – Volunteers from Current of Tampa Bay, Inc. will spend Saturday, Sept. 28, washing the clothes of those less fortunate. The Laundry Project will be held at Sue’s Coin Laundry, located at 4071 College St. # 3 Jacksonville, FL 32205 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Laundromat is located in the historic neighborhood of Murray Hill.

The Laundry Project provides an opportunity for volunteers from the community to assist those in need by helping them afford a simple, yet often unnoticed common need: cleaning their laundry.

This is the second time this year Current will hold a Laundry Project in the Jacksonville area. As residents’ needs continue to grow for this service, Current has stepped up to meet the demand. The volunteers from Trinity Baptist College, along with Current’s president, hope to raise $700 for supplies for this weekend’s project.

The project is especially meaningful for Jason Sowell, Current’s Founder and President, who attended Trinity Baptist College, located in West Jacksonville. “I am grateful for the continued support of our Laundry Projects in Jacksonville”, said Sowell. “Personally knowing this community and the residents that live there give me an insight as to how badly they need this service. I am honored to have the opportunity to bring hope to the area.”

To date, the organization has washed and dried the clothing and linen of more than 3,000 families in 7 counties in Florida.

Current is seeking donations of quarters (rolls of $10), coloring books, crayons, laundry baskets and bags, bleach, fabric softener and liquid laundry detergent are always appreciated. Donations can be brought to the event on the morning of Saturday, Sept. 28 or be made by contacting Jason Sowell by phone: 727.537.9082 or by email: [email protected].  More information about this event can be found online at www.LaundryByCurrent.org.
