The Marcus Center for the Performing Arts Brings FunikiJam Music World to Huntington
A Live, Interactive Music Event Perfect for Kids of All Ages
GREENLAWN, NY — The Marcus Center for the Performing Arts is hosting a musical event for children at the Huntington Moose Lodge on August 11 from 7:00 to 10:00 pm. This event will feature the popular music group from New York City, Funikijam World Music. FunikiJam has evolved into a landmark early childhood education and entertainment organization that incorporates rhymes, chants, songs and stories with indigenous music from around the world. This event is meant to inspire children of all ages and teach them about musical cultures from around the world. The performance is a fundraiser for the Marcus Center, a non-profit organization. Tickets are $35 dollars each and donations can also be made.
FunikiJam World Music was founded by Brian Barrentine in 1999 to meet a growing demand for quality education and entertainment programs for young children and families. Almost two decades later, FunikiJam is training teachers, opening new locations, recording music and touring live shows to schools, music festivals and other venues around the country. FunikiJam’s mission is to empower global citizens to reach their potential through their “music exploration for the next generation” classes, live shows, musical recordings, film production and teacher trainings.
Established in 2012, the mission of The Marcus Center is to help children develop a sense of cultural awareness and appreciation for the performing arts. This event is a great way to show children how fun music can be while teaching them the value of different music cultures. During this show, children will be able to not only watch this exciting, live performance but will also be able to interact with the performers – even getting to test out some instruments themselves.
Tickets are $35 each and can be purchased online at www.marcusarts.org via PayPal, donations can also be made here. Food and refreshments will be available, along with a full children’s menu. There are only 300 tickets available and they will be sold on a first come, first served basis. This event will take place on August 11 from 7:00 – 11:00 p.m. at The Huntington Moose Lodge, located at 631 Pulaski Road in Greenlawn, New York.
