Emmanuel Jacques Almosnino Law Firm Set to Meet with Saint Barth Property Owners Regarding Hurricane Irma

On September 6, Hurricane Irma hit the Caribbean, including the island of Saint Barth, with sustained winds of 185 miles per hour and gusts of up to 218 miles per hour, destroying 10% of the houses, damaging almost all the villas and resorts and some of the crucial infrastructures of the island.

Emmanuel Jacques, Managing Attorney, Emmanuel Jacques Almosnino Law Firm (EJA), has traveled from Saint Barth following the storm. On September 14, 2017 at 5:30 p.m., Mr. Jacques will be holding an informational forum at the Restaurant at ROSE HILL, located at 34 E. 32nd Street in New York City.

The forum is open to owners of Saint Barth properties and their legal representatives. The purpose of the forum will be to communicate with Saint Barth property owners what is happening now and to assist them in filing insurance claims arising from Hurricane Irma. Claims must be filed by September 19, 2017.

The Restaurant at ROSE HILL, which opened up recently, is quickly becoming a destination for French nationals and New Yorkers who own property in Saint Barth. The restaurant’s Co-Owner, Philippe Olivier Bondon, is a French citizen who spent nearly a decade living and working on the island of Saint Barth, a place he still calls home.

Mr. Jacques has been monitoring the latest developments at Saint Barth. He said that, despite the damage to many of the homes and the some of the island’s infrastructure, there were no fatalities and the roads and government buildings sustained virtually no damage. The Saint Barth government is already back at work and electricity has been restored to the island. He also said the damages will be covered by the insurance companies.

In addition to working with his clients on filing claims, Mr. Jacques will discuss what happened when the hurricane struck the island and the ongoing relief efforts provided by the local government. He will explore with the attendees what can be done together to help in the rebuilding of the island, including the establishment of a foundation to assist year-round residents.
