A CLUE FROM THE AMORITES ABOUT THE END OF THIS AGE

Genesis 15: 13&16 TLB Then Jehovah told Abram, “Your descendants will be oppressed as slaves in a foreign land for 400 years…After four generations they will return here to this land; for the wickedness of the Amorite nations living here now will not be ready for punishment until then.”

THE AMORITES WOULD ONLY BE JUDGED WHEN INIQUITY HAD REACHED ITS THRESHOLD

In the Genesis passage above Abraham is told that the inhabitants of the land of promise would not be cast out until their sin had reached a certain level. God had set a limit to their sin; when it reached that threshold he would allow the descendants of Abraham to dispossess them and take their land.

GOD USED ISRAEL TO PUNISH THE AMORITES

God used the army of Israel as his weapon against the Amorites.

Joshua 24:8 TLB Finally I brought you into the land of the Amorites on the other side of the Jordan; and they fought against you, but I destroyed them and gave you their land.

Israel was only the weapon wielded by the hand of God.

“God did the destroying; Israel was merely the instrument. The judgment was from God. This does not mean that Israel’s motive was always holy. At times it was not. But the just purposes of God were being carried out, even if Israel at times had wrong motives.” John Piper

In fact, God warned Israel against thinking proudly about their conquest.

Deuteronomy 9 4-6 TLB “Then, when the Lord has done this for you, don’t say to yourselves, ‘The Lord has helped us because we are so good!’ No, it is because of the wickedness of the other nations that he is doing it. It is not at all because you are such fine, upright people that the Lord will drive them out from before you! I say it again, it is only because of the wickedness of the other nations, and because of his promises to your ancestors, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, that he will do it. I say it yet again: Jehovah your God is not giving you this good land because you are good, for you are not—you are a wicked, stubborn people

ABRAHAM IN CANAAN

GOD PUNISHES A NATION WITH OTHER NATIONS

God uses nations as his weapons against other sinning nations. Usually the motives of the nations he is using is not good.

Later, when Israel had sinned to the point of judgment, God used the Babylonians and the Assyrians against Israel in the same way He used Israel against the Amorites.

Isaiah 10: 6-7 TLB Assyria is the whip of my anger; his military strength is my weapon upon this godless nation, doomed and damned; he will enslave them and plunder them and trample them like dirt beneath his feet. But the king of Assyria will not know that it is I who sent him. He will merely think he is attacking my people as part of his plan to conquer the world.

God will use even a wicked nation to punish another nation but then he will also punish the nation He has used as His weapon. See the Book of Habakkuk.

THE FALL OF JERUSALEM

WHEN THE ANTICHRIST CONTROLS ALL THE NATIONS, WHO WILL PUNISH HIM?

Zechariah 1: 18-21 KJV Then lifted I up mine eyes, and saw, and behold four horns.

And I said unto the angel that talked with me, What be these? And he answered me, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.

And the Lord shewed me four carpenters.

Then said I, What come these to do? And he spake, saying, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, so that no man did lift up his head: but these are come to fray them, to cast out the horns of the Gentiles, which lifted up their horn over the land of Judah to scatter it.

For every horn (nation) that beat down Israel there was a carpenter (military leader) to beat the horn down.

QUESTION Who will be the final carpenter who will bring to an end the kingdoms of this world?

ANSWER Mark 6:3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon?

THE END WILL COME WHEN THE TIMES OF THE GENTILES IS OVER

God has used the nations to scatter Israel but not forever. We are now in the period of time called “The Times of the Gentiles”; when it is over God will again give Jerusalem to the Jews.

Luke 21:24 TLB They will be brutally killed by enemy weapons, or sent away as exiles and captives to all the nations of the world; and Jerusalem shall be conquered and trampled down by the Gentiles until the period of Gentile triumph ends in God’s good time.

THE REASON FOR ARMAGEDDON

When the Times of the Gentiles is over God will gather all nations to the valley of Armageddon to be punished for the mistreatment of His people.

Joel 3: 12&13 Let the nations stir themselves up

and come up to the Valley of Jehoshaphat;

for there I will sit to judge

all the surrounding nations.

Put in the sickle,

for the harvest is ripe.

Go in, tread,

for the winepress is full.

The vats overflow,

for their evil is great.

THE FULLNESS OF THE GENTILES – WHEN THE LAST PERSON IS ADDED TO THE CHURCH THE END WILL COME

There is a similar phrase found in Romans 11: 25 NIV “I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in,”

The Fullness of the Gentiles is not the same as The Times of the Gentiles.

When the Gentiles have had their full time and number in the Church which the Jews in their time and number had before them, then the Jews will  again be “grafted into their own olive tree,” and one Church of Jew and Gentile together shall possess and rule the earth.

THE RULERS OF THIS WORLD WILL BE DISPOSSESSED LIKE THE AMORITES

IN THE WOMB OF EGYPT

The Amorites would not be punished for 400 years but meanwhile God was incubating a nation in the womb of Egypt. God brought this nation out of Egypt to dispossess the Amorites. In the same way God is incubating a people in the womb of this world who will dispossess the rulers of this world and rule and reign with Christ. Jews and Gentiles will make up this coming Reign of the Servant Kings. When the full number of Gentiles have been added the end will come. One day the last Gentile will get saved and it will be over.

What limits will God not allow without punishment? The scriptures are too numerous to list but in summary: God will punish a nation that allows the killing of babies, the destruction of the family, ( a family is one man and one woman married for life and their children) and widespread sexual perversion. God will punish any nation or people who allow these things.

SODOM AND GOMORRAH

AMERICA WILL BE JUDGED, IT CANNOT BE STOPPED

America will be punished, it is not a question of if but when. All the murdered babies will be avenged. Judgment could be postponed if we had a massive revival, but not stopped.

2 Kings 24:2-4 NASB The Lord sent against him bands of Chaldeans, bands of Arameans, bands of Moabites, and bands of Ammonites. So He sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the Lord which He had spoken through His servants the prophets. Surely at the command of the Lord it came upon Judah, to remove them from His sight because of the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he had done, and also for the innocent blood which he shed, for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; and the Lord would not forgive.

When sexual perversion, adultery, widespread divorce, greed, oppression, and abortions have reached their limit, judgment will come, just as it did on the Amorites.

WHEN SIN HAS REACHED ITS LIMITS THE ANTICHRIST WILL BE REVEALED

God will allow the arch deceiver to come to power and the terrible tribulation will come.

Daniel 8:23 And at the latter end of their kingdom, when the transgressors have reached their limit, a king of bold face, one who understands riddles, shall arise.

Daniel looks beyond Antiochus, to the closing times of the Christian era.

2 Thessalonians 2: 1 And now, what about the coming again of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to meet him?…3 that day will not come until two things happen: first, there will be a time of great rebellion against God, and then the man of rebellion will come—the son of hell…7 As for the work this man of rebellion and hell will do when he comes, it is already going on, but he himself will not come until the one who is holding him back steps out of the way. 8 Then this wicked one will appear, He will completely fool those who are on their way to hell because they have said no to the Truth; they have refused to believe it and love it and let it save them,… 11 so God will allow them to believe lies with all their hearts, 12 and all of them will be justly judged for believing falsehood, refusing the Truth, and enjoying their sins.

 EXPONENTIAL GROWTH – SUDDENLY NO MORE TIME

 I have included a video about the cycles of nations from birth to destruction. You will notice that each cycle takes less time as you near the end.

QUESTION: If you had a pond with pond lilies that doubled in size every day, and it took 30 days to fill the pond, how many days would it take to fill it half full?

ANSWER: Most people say 15 days but the correct answer is 29 days. If they double in size everyday, then the pond would be half full on the 29th day and be full on the 30th.

THE POINT: We could run out of time a lot faster than we think.

This is the meaning of Revelation 1:1 “The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass”

The word translated “shortly” is a word that means: “when it starts it will happen all of a sudden”.

THE SAINTS WILL DISPOSSESS THE RULERS OF THIS WORLD WHEN SIN HAS REACHED ITS LIMITS

Just as Israel dispossessed the Amorites so the saints will dispossess the fallen angels and the kings of the earth. This will happen “when the earth is ripe for judgment”.

Isaiah 24:21 On that day the LORD will punish

the host of heaven, in heaven,

and the kings of the earth, on the earth.

1 Corinthians 6:2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

Revelation 2: 26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

Daniel 7:9 I beheld till the thrones (rulers of this world) were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.

Revelation 20:4 TLB Then I saw thrones, and sitting on them were those who had been given the right to judge.

WHEN SIN HAS REACHED ITS LIMIT THE HARVEST OF THE EARTH BEGINS

Revelation 14 TLB an angel came from the temple and called out… “Begin to use the sickle, for the time has come for you to reap; the harvest is ripe on the earth”…Use your sickle now to cut off the clusters of grapes from the vines of the earth, for they are fully ripe for judgment.” So the angel swung his sickle on the earth and loaded the grapes into the great winepress of God’s wrath. And the grapes were trodden in the winepress outside the city, and blood flowed out in a stream 200 miles long and as high as a horse’s bridle.
