Earthquakes rock Iceland volcano

Earthquakes are rocking Iceland’s Bardarbunga volcano, adding to concerns that magma movements may trigger an eruption that could hinder air traffic.

Two earthquakes measuring over magnitude 5 shook the volcano under a vast glacier.. Some 500 quakes have hit the area since midnight.

IMF’s Lagarde put under investigation in French fraud case

 IMF chief Christine Lagarde has been put under formal investigation by French magistrates for negligence in a political fraud affair dating from 2008 when she was finance minister.

Lagarde, who this week was questioned by magistrates in Paris for a fourth time under her existing status as a witness in the long-running saga, said she would contest the decision.

Sources: US considering new relief mission in Iraq

The White house is considering launching a humanitarian relief operation for Shiite Turkmen in northern Iraq who have been under siege for weeks by Islamic State militants, U.S. defense officials said Wednesday.

The mission, if it went forward, would be the second recent U.S. military humanitarian intervention in Iraq. U.S. cargo planes dropped tons of food and water to displaced Yazidis on Mount Sinjar in northern Iraq earlier this month, supported by U.S. airstrikes on nearby Islamic State fighting positions.

Islamic State executes soldiers, takes hostages at Syria base: social media

Islamic State militants have executed Syrian army soldiers and are holding a group hostage after capturing an air base in northeast Syria at the weekend, pictures posted on social media by supporters showed on Wednesday.

In one online photo, militants are seen gunning down at least seven kneeling men identified as army personnel.

Talks optimism fades as Ukraine says Russia makes new incursion

Ukraine accused Russian forces of launching a new military incursion across its border only a day after the leaders of both countries agreed to work towards ending a separatist war in the east of the country.

3RD DOCTOR DIES FROM EBOLA IN SIERRA LEONE

A third top doctor has died from Ebola in Sierra Leone, as health workers attempt to determine how a fourth scientist also contracted the disease before being evacuated to Europe.

Ebola, which has killed more than 1,400 people across West Africa. The World Health Organization said it was sending a team to investigate how the epidemiologist (undergoing treatment in Germany) may have contracted the disease that kills more than half its victims.

Burger King Blasted as ‘Traitor’ for Deal That Would Move HQ to Canada

Burger King’s  acquisition of Tim Hortons, announced Tuesday, would see the fast food giant move its headquarters from the United States to Canada if the deal goes through. That’s sparked some serious backlash on social media from critics dubbing the company a #traitor and #UnAmerican, as the company would likely wind up paying less in taxes if it were to reincorporate in the Great White North.
