The USGS reports an average of 134 earthquakes a year between 6.0 and 6.9. That’s 1 every 2.7 days. Making a prediction that encompasses a period of time larger than the average is not impressive in anyway. So yes, Dr. Turi’s “gift” can indeed be denied by literally anyone with half a brain.

From DefaOmega – What an honor to be included in your article. I said a fair prediction would be 3 even though the average mathematically would say 5. Today is Day 1 and there was a 6.0 earthquake today. So far I’m right on schedule for my accurate prediction.
This isn’t some cosmic wisdom or any black magic crap, it’s purely a numbers game. It’s very simple to the point where anyone can do it. If you give yourself a three-day window you can statistically say there will be a earthquake of magnitude 6.0 or higher at any time.
I really don’t understand how/why you’re still posting and making it seem like you’re doing anything special… Good Luck.

You predicted an earthquake over 6.0 which anyone can do (considering those happen several times a month on earth). Yet nothing happened, no damage, no fatalities, no damage to property, nothing. I predict the same thing for May. Watch CNN to prove me right. See, I can do it too.

Today is the 14th April and since the 30th March there has been 1 YES 1 only over 6.0

I had wondered if anyone would come back to this to point out DrTuri was yet again incorrect. Seems my ‘prediction’ was also wrong, but I never claimed to have some ‘gift’.

I had to come back to see what the great doc had to say, but he seems to have gone quiet all of a sudden.
Well Dr. Turi you see April 13th is 14 days from now. 14 divided by 2.7 (which again is the average) is 5.18. So statistically speaking about 5. Again, I’m not really saying there will be 5 but statistically it would be. I think if I was going to make some “bold prediction” I’d say 3. I mean that’s what you’d do anyway. Make sure your predictions are well within the average.
