The ancient church of Laodicea ended in an earthquake that destroyed the city circa 63 AD. The church is described as lukewarm with materialism, a description that fits western Christianity, and there is an earthquake in our future because of parallels.

The earthquake is encoded as a ‘knock,’ that Evangelical Christians have understood as Christ knocking at the door of our hearts. That’s a good meaning, but Revelation is also about how things end. Being a book of depth, we should consider what’s coming.

An earthquake is seen in Revelation 8:5 to initiate the 7 trumpets in verse 6, but it’s encoded as a lion’s roar in Revelation 10:3 because Christ is the Lion of Judah, Rev 5:5, and when He roars, the earth will shake, Joel 3:16.

That roar is harder to see in Revelation 6:1 until we look at verse 3,5,7 to realize the first creature is a lion in Rev 4:7, and when he roars, John hears thunder, and it calls attention to the white horse, a message of truth for end-times. Rev 6:1,2.

There’s more that could be said, but to the point, an earthquake will end our lukewarm Christianity–Christ said He would have us hot or cold. May we be ready so we don’t become cold. Following other parallels, we may expect this huge earthquake in 2019.

As a heads up, if we “see Jerusalem compassed with armies” (Lk 21:20) in April as when Titus began his siege in 70 AD, we should expect the earthquake a month later “as the days of Noah” when the Flood came in the 2^nd spring month, Gen 7:11.
