It’s an old saying that goes way back. An entire genre of story telling can be summed up as ‘who dun it’ stories: mystery crime thrillers.
People in Ellensburg Washington have been saying ‘who dun it’ for last 125 years. Back in the year 1889, a fire destroyed almost the entire town. Ellensburg was a boom town at the time, situated in the very center of Washington State. The town was in the running, in fact, to be the state capital. After the fire, Olympia was chosen at the capitol.
Ellensburg is one of the best towns in America. Rodeo college town. Great this time of year with everyone walking around in wrangler jeans and straw hats. But had that fire of 1889 not happened, Ellensburg would be a very different place today.
The post office in Ellensburg was dedicated to John F. Kennedy in 1963.
The Davidson Building, located on 400 4th ave was built in 1889 after the fire. The building contains a mural of the phoenix rising from the ashes. Across the street is a statue of bull sitting like a man with a cowboy hat on his lap.
