SEND IN THE CLOWNS

It was a perfectly ordinary business meeting but much that was extraordinary about those attending. Not that this was immediately apparent as the group of eight made small talk. It was only when I mentioned that my coloured friend ran a quite successful business that life as we know it hit the buffers.

The silence that befell the group was apocalyptic; it was the deafening silence that might be expected at the Queen’s garden party had the crowned head of state herself broken wind upwind. There was a blank expression on my face as the wheels between my ears raced furiously. I had obviously committed a mortal sin and my sin was unforgivable; there could be no redemption for me.

Unable to find the words I was looking for, the silence was broken by a delegate who sanctimoniously said, no doubt on behalf of those gathered here today:

“You don’t use that word here.”

What word,” I begged. I was genuinely bewildered.

“The word ‘coloured’, came the reply as the self-righteous group shuffled their feet in embarrassment.

“But, my friend is a coloured person,” I stammered, “how else should I describe him?”

“Not coloured, we don’t use that word anymore.”

“Then what word should I use,” I asked. I had clearly got lost somewhere along the line.

“Person ~ just PERSON!”

“But the term was appropriate in its context,” I countered. “We were talking about the social mores of the district.”

Unwilling to be publicly pilloried I shot back, “Then let us imagine that I am the unwilling witness of a person being assaulted by a non-White person. Whilst I am assisting the police officers who quickly arrive on the scene, I am asked if I can offer a description of the attacker. How do I describe the attacker to the police officer; as a person, just ~ a person.”

“Yes, just ‘a person’ was the response of the talking heads whose smugness was as complete as that of the dowager on her explaining that the gardener must in future use the term manure rather than his four-letter version starting with the letter S and ending with the letter T. A word that coincidentally I muttered under my breath as I decided to bring my meeting to an end.

More recently, I fell into the trap of political correctness again whilst I was perusing maritime photographs of perfectly ordinary activity taking place on a freighter berthed at an African quayside. It appeared that a winch needed attention and as two ethnic-Europeans looked on an African labourer was putting some muscle into the tasks to be completed.

“I notice only the Black guy appears to be working,” I typed.

Again, metaphorically speaking, one could have heard a pin drop. And then the floodgates opened:

“I can’t believe it, he used the word the BLACK!”

This was a response I simply hadn’t expected. After all, I am a White man, I am often described as such by my peers and by non-Whites; where is the problem in my being described as a White man?”

“He’s clearly a racist,’ someone commented.

“No worries,” another typed, “I have reported his remark to the moderator. I hope he gets a 30-day block.”

Just what are these clowns on indeed and is the substance they are inhaling legal. The mental instability of the current crop of brain-washed Whites will surely go down in history as phenomena without equal. ~ Michael Walsh, a White man.
